LESSON PLAN (LANGUAGE AWARENESS) - The Pied Pipers (ANTHONY, ANIS, ROSNI, SUJITHA)

SUBJECT : ENGLISH LANGUAGE

CONTENT STANDARD : MAIN SKILL – This is a grammar focused lesson so listening,


speaking, reading and writing skills are not explicitly covered.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES : At the end of the lesson, pupils are able to:

i- Identify habitual actions in a passage.


ii- Describe their friends’ actions.

ACTIVITIES: :  Pupils play ‘Definitions Game’ in class. Students choose a


word from a list and make sentences using The Present
PRE-LESSON Simple and Present Continuous Tense.
 Students are then asked to identify the verbs from the
sentences written on the board to further reinforced their
understanding of the Present Simple and Present
Continuous Tense. They must also name the Tenses
used and state how they differ in meaning.
LESSON DEVELOPMENT :  Students are divided into groups of five. Each group is
given a passage with the action words missing.
 Students are later asked to discuss and fill in the missing
words.
 Students then exchange their task sheet with another
group (peer assessment).
 Students compare their answers with the ones given by
the teacher.
 Students are asked to attempt Grammar activity C and
elicit response from students that Stative Verbs are Verbs
that are used in the Simple Tenses.
 A few students are selected randomly to act out a few
actions. The rest of the class needs to guess what they
are doing in a complete sentence with Stative Verbs/
Continuous Tense.
 Students then attempt Grammar practice D, E an F.

POST LESSON :  Pupils are asked to review their learning in this lesson by
completing an exit card:
‘what did you learn today ‘ and ‘what could have been
better’
 Collect the cards and use them for planning the next
lesson.
 Follow-up lesson: Exercise G
