COURSE INFORMATION
Course Name TRENDS, NETWORKS, AND CRITICAL THINKING IN THE 21ST CENTURY
Course Code TNCTCC1
Course Unit 4
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites NONE
Course Description The course provides opportunities for students to discover patterns and extract
meanings from emerging trends. It aids in developing their critical and creative
thinking skills-- essential tools for decision making and understanding “ethics of
care”. Global trends in the 21st century are examined and are either accepted or
rejected on a sound set of criteria. Students will be asked to create and analyze
scenarios that will challenge them to (1) formulate their stances on issues or
concerns; (2) propose interventions and; (3) formulate alternative futures. The
students will realize the interconnections between their neural connections and social
realities.
Course Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate critical, creative, and reflective thinking skills as they discuss
the global trends in the 21st century.
2. Equip them with skills in analyzing the interconnections between their neural
connections and social realities.
3. Produce a project proposal regarding interventions through ICT.

SECOND QUARTER EXAMINATION

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND POLICIES

Output/Material Descriptions
Course Requirement Students will make and propose a creative intervention entitled
Project Proposal
“Empowering Human Life Through ICT”.
Deviations Policies
 Coming to class after the time will be considered late. A
student is marked absent if s/he is late for 15 minutes.
 Three consecutive late means 1 absent.
 Note: Class attendance will be monitored. However,
attendance will NOT be considered in determining the
grade. There are three main reasons for this.
Class Policy -First, you are all adults and, as such, are capable of choosing
your own behavior.
-Second, students who physically attend the class but are
mentally “elsewhere” gain nothing.
-Third, attendance is highly correlated with performance and
needs no additional consideration. Ultimately, you should trust
my claim that favorable performance in my class can be
achieved ONLY by coming to class and working to understand
the material being presented
 Five consecutive absences means drop.
 Seven absences means drop.
A student will be excused when sick if s/he has notified his/her
instructor.
The students who missed the quiz/activity will not be given a
Missed Quizzes/Activities
chance to take the quiz again.
No permit, No exam. The students who fail to take the exam
due to not having the permit will have the chance to take on the
schedules special exam date.
Those who are late will be permitted to take the exam only
Major Examination
insofar as the first person has not completed the exam. Late
Policies
arrivals will NOT be permitted extra time in which to complete
the exam.
Anybody caught cheating during exams will automatically be
given a failing mark (65%) on that exam.
Students who show misbehavior in the classroom will be sent to
guidance office accordingly.
Due to the importance of the classroom environment to the
achievements of each and every student, I will enforce the
following classroom protocols:
(1) students will turn off cell phones prior to entering the
Classrooms Protocols classroom;
(2) students will direct their full attention to whomever is
speaking;
(3) students will not eat during class, unless told so; and
(4) students will treat others with respect at all times.
• Any student who consistently fails to follow classroom
protocol will be asked to leave the class.
A student is allowed to come to class if s/he is wearing the
Proper Uniform prescribed complete uniform.
Since your performance will be compared against the performance of your fellow students, I
commit myself to do everything in my power to provide a fair learning and testing environment.
You, however, must be equally committed to this goal by resisting the temptation to use the
Academic Integrity
work of others and by informing me of any compromise to the fairness of the environment.
Cheating is considered to be a serious offense and if prevention efforts fail and cheating
occurs, formal action may be taken and may include immediate dismissal from the class.
Consultation Time Wednesday, 10:00 am – 12:00nn or post a message on the Facebook group page only.
