Introduction

IlearnIT Limited was established in October 2006 but started operating in August 2007

with a variety of responsibilities. One of these is to provide basic ICT appreciation course

dubbed as Computer Driving Licence Programme. This is a training package that equips

individuals to use the computer effectively for word-processing, spreadsheet,

presentation, database, e-mail and internet access. Aside this, we are also into secretarial

work.

Problem

IlearnIT has come to the realisation that schools within the district do not have a common

examination which normally helps to maintain a certain standard in all schools. And even

if they do, we want to localise the examination to suit the aim and purpose of most of the

teachers.

Proposal

It is being suggested that as part of the aims and objectives of the Assembly to nurture

and seek the growth of local companies, IlearnIT Limited be given the opportunity to

type and print all examination questions for the district schools.

Research

We have found out from the past that a similar project has been done. But it was printed

by a company outside the territory of the Assembly. Moreover, teachers complained

bitterly about the nature and type of questions set. This is because the questions are either

below or above the standard they expected. Such moves by the Assembly to at least get

the requisite standard for the students are admirable and commendable but we believe an

indigenous company should be considered if and only if they have the ability to meet the

standard desired by the Assembly. Fortunately for us (That is IlearnIT Limited) we are

even above that standard and can meet all your requirements.

In addition, IlearnIT will adopt a policy to invite all teachers in various schools to form

an association of examiners in the various subjects. Such move will help the subject

association to collaborate and come out with a syllabus for each term on which a

common examination will be set. Furthermore, the questions will be set by these subject

associations. Personally, I have spoken to some of the heads and teachers, they have all

expressed their optimism about this idea.

Rationale of an indigenous company typing and printing Examination Questions

In relation to what I am proposing, if an indigenous company should type and print

examination question, the problem of “low or high” standard of question will be a thing

of the past. Research has proven that most of the examination questions set for the district

are either below or above the standard of questions expected by both teachers and

students. Moreover, this has sent thought to students of whether they are of good standing

or not. But interestingly, nobody can be accessed on what he does not know or be

accesses on what is presumed to be far below the person’s standard.

IlearnIT is coming out with the project specifically for your district. What we need is the

acceptance and authority to form what I called “Subject Teachers Association” for each

subject. This association within the district will have a sole responsibility of setting the

exams for the district on termly basic. We on the other side will collaborate with this

association and get the question, type and print at the end of every term.

Secondly, the issue of shortage of question papers will easily be addressed if an

indigenous company holds the contract of printing examination questions. Information

gathered has revealed that when that possibility holds, most of the time, tremendous

efforts are made to get the supplier of that questions who might not be around,

consequently some innocent students might not take part in the examination. IlearnIT

Limited which is within the territory of the district can be contacted anytime to solve

such anomalies.

Finally, there is an adage in Twi which literally mean “when you are been chewed by a

family witches, part of your body will be left” IlearnIT limited believes so far as we are

all within one umbrella, excellence will be our hallmark. In addition, there is the need for

us to help each other grow and consequently, this will help develop the district we are

residing.

Cost value per Student

Since the cost related to printing is quite high, IlearnIT is introducing a package which is

reasonable for your outfit to consider. For each student to partake in the exams to be set

by IlearnIT Limited, we are proposing a total package cost of Gh¢ 0.30 for primary

students and Gh¢ 0.60 for Junior High Students. This is inclusive of answer booklets

and shading sheets.

Conclusion

Although heads, teachers and even the students are yearning for such a laudable idea, it

cannot be materialize if this proposal is not accepted. We are then pleading with you to

consider this proposal in order to fast tract things and start with the implementation.
