Design Considerations

• Fixity of the precast element connections adheres to original AE Design

• Standardization and repetition of the precast elements are maximized to
optimize the production and the site installation
• Temporary and permanent loadings are considered in the connection details
• Precast Slab is designed to act as the temporary formwork support for the
topping concrete
• Topping concrete detailed with reinforcement and the slab is designed as a
continuous element

Advantages of Application

• Elimination of risks by reducing the work activities on sites

SAFETY - Scaffold & WAH platforms
- Liftings, transfers and installations of rebar & formwork & concrete
- Noise and dust pollution associated with CIS works in confined space

• Higher efficiency with substantial man-hour saving ~ 33 %

PRODUCTIVITY
• Immediate reduction in waste on formworks

• Better workmanship ensured by centralized quality control at

fabrication yard.
QUALITY
• Reduction in common defects also expedite progress at site
20
Learning Points
• Early involvement of LTA, AE, Main Contractor and Pre-caster in
conceptualisation, advanced planning, design, fabrication and site preparation
is utmost importance and crucial

• High repetition and low variation of panels to reap the economy of scales

• Installation of Precast Elements within confined space required predetermine

lifting methodology. EOT cranes can be a solution to facilitate the heavy lifting

21
Safety Induction

• Observe all warning signage's when entering and leaving from the site

• Emergency alarm will be activated in case of any emergency situations

• Emergency response team will be activated

• Follow the designated access and escape route to reach assembly area

• Visitors will be guided to assembly area during emergency situation
