Concurrent Force System in Space

The plane-table (an early surveying instrument) weighs 40 pounds and is supported by a tripod, the legs
of which are pushed into the ground. The force in each leg may be considered to act along the leg. Solve
for the magnitude of the force in each leg.

A balloon is moored by three cables as shown. The lift on the balloon is 600 N. Find the tension in the
chord.

A 100 kg traffic light is supported by a system of cables as shown in this figure. Determine the tensions in
each of the three cables.

A uniform 300 Ib disk is supported by 3 chords attached symmetrically. A slip ring at D may be pushed
downward to increase the angle od the chord with the vertical. If the chord has a safe strength of 150 Ib
find the minimum safe value of h.

Determine the reactions at the end of 23 ft beam ( A & B).
