Fitness Tag
Grade/Subject: PE Gr. 4 Lesson Duration: 30 mins Unit: Tag Games

General Learning Outcomes:
A) Students will acquire skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate
movement activities; dance, games, types of gymnastics, individual activities
and activities in an alternative environment.

Specific Learning Outcomes:
 A4-1: Select, perform and refine simple locomotor sequences.
 A4-2: Consistently and confidently perform locomotor skills and combination of
skills, by using elements of body and space awareness, effort and relationships
to a variety of stimuli to improve personal performance.
 A4-3: Select, perform and refine simple non-locomotor sequences.

Students will:
1) Warm up by participating in a running activity.
2) Safely, participate in a tag game
3) Cool down through stretching exercises.

Introduction:
Hook/Attention Grabber: Today we will be playing a new tag game.

Expectations for Learning & Behaviour:


 When you hear the whistle, stop what you are doing.
 Make sure you are playing fairly.
 Be safe when playing – no pushing or hitting anyone if you’re the tagger

Advance Organizer/Agenda:
 Have hoola hoops out.

Transition to Body: First, let’s warm up.


Body:
Learning Activity #1:
 Warm up activity.
 5 minutes of running
Assessments/Differentiation:
 Watch that students are playing fair and safely.

Learning Activity #2:


 Fitness Tag.
 9 hoola hoops will be place throughout the gym.
 3 students will be chosen as taggers.
Rules:
 Taggers aim to tag all the students. If a student is tagged, they must go to a
fitness zone which are the hoops.
 Students must wait inside the fitness zone (hoops) until a peer comes along
and does the specified fitness activity with them. (Ex// 5 start jumps)
 Completing their fitness acidity together frees them from the fitness zone.
 Change the fitness activity at the end of each game.
Assessment/Differentiation:
 Watch that students are playing safely and fairly.

Learning Activity #3:


 Cool down activity.
 Students will spread out around the gym and stretch.
 This will be teacher lead.
Assessment/Differentiation:
 Be sure students are doing stretches safely.

Consolidation/Assessment of Learning: Good work!

Transition to Next Lesson: Next class we will play a new tag game
