on the USD / Domestic currency SPOT rate and the interest rates on the domestic currency
market. Use the interest rates on the USD market presented above.

The Real Exchange Rate (RER) compares the relative price of two countries’ consumption
baskets (not only for one type of good or service).
The basket of goods and services priced for the PPP exercise is a sample of all goods and
services covered by GDP. The final product list as a general rule covers around 3,000 consumer
goods and services, 30 occupations in government, 200 types of equipment goods and about 15
construction projects. A large number of products is to enable countries to identify goods and
services which are representative of their domestic expenditures.
PPP is based on The Law of One Price which implies that all identical goods should have
the same price. The law of one price states that in the absence of transport costs and tariffs, and
under conditions of free competition and price flexibility, (where no individual sellers or buyers
have power to manipulate prices and prices can freely adjust), identical goods sold in different
locations must sell for the same price when prices are expressed in a common currency.
