SELF SELF SELF

The ego is never your friend.

The ego exists only to confuse you and confound you.
That is why it appears to exist.
But to whom does the ego exist?
Only to the mind.
Destroy the mind by not thinking about it.
If you do not think about the mind it becomes weaker and weaker
and finally it's totally annihilated.
For everything works by itself.
It takes care of itself, in its own time and in its own place.
That is why I emphasize so much, turn into yourself.
Never try to solve your problems.
You cannot do it, rather know yourself, be yourself
and see if any problems disturb you at all.
If you would only turn within yourself and stop trying to change
other people or change conditions or change behavior patterns.
Leave these things alone.
Be yourself! Love yourself! Worship yourself!
And then see what happens to you.

~Robert Adams - T.214 : Signs of a True Spiritual Master

Bhagavan had told me, 'You are not the body, you are not the mind. You are the pure
consciousness, the Self. You are all-pervasive. Be aware of this at all times, even while you are
working.'

I tried very hard to put this upadesa into practice while I was working, but I cannot say that I
had much success.

If you realize the reason why you came, you will be interested in one thing, awakening. And that will
dominate your life. Nothing else will. You will not be concerned with what somebody else is doing and
you will be at peace with yourself and everybody else.

ALL ENERGY FOR SADHANA

Q: [Asked by a young couple from Australia] Is brahmacharya necessary if one is seeking Self-
realization?

AS: Help each other on the path as friends. If there is any sexual
desire you will lose some spiritual power.

SELF SELF SELF

Even if you just look at someone and feel some desire towards them, you lose a little spiritual
energy. In a family situation, there are always strong attachments. The husband will give a lot of
love to his wife and vice versa. Both will give a lot of love to the children.

If you are serious about sadhana, remain unmarried and put all your energy into self-enquiry.
You cannot hold onto the Self while you still have strong attachments to other people.

Your thoughts pull you deeper into Maya, into illusion.

Remain in the no-thought state.

~Robert Adams .

There is nothing so simple as being the Self. It requires no effort, no aid. One has to leave off the wrong
identity and be in his (her) eternal, natural, inherent state.
~Ramana Maharshi
