Performance The learner transfers learning by: explaining the need to be cooperative and responsible in today’s
standard global village; using appropriate strategies to comprehend extended text types; using lexical and
contextual clues to understand unfamiliar words and expressions; using imperatives, prepositions, and
appropriate and polite oral language, stance and behavior in various information-sharing formats.
Content The learner demonstrates understanding of: contemporary Philippine literature as a means of
standard responding to the demands of the global village; various extended text types; lexical and contextual
cues; appropriate and polite oral language, stance, and behavior; and use of imperatives, prepositions,
verbs, and wh -questions.

At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
Identify the different text types and differentiate one from another
Discuss the importance of past writings to present
Compose a simple informative/ expository text

TASK 1: MISS Q AND A WORD GUESS:
Guess the mystery words using the pictures given as clues. Before saying the answer you have to give
three facts about the picture.

The Evolution of Writing Materials
1. If you were given a chance to write something which among the items would want to write?
ABSTRACTION
1. Narrative text- tells a story whether real or fictional. It presents an event or sequence of events that
happened over a period of time.
Example: "I have this fear. It causes my legs to shake. I break out in a cold sweat. I start jabbering
to anyone who is nearby. As thoughts of certain death run through my mind, the world appears
a precious, treasured place. I imagine my own funeral, then shrink back at the implications of
where my thoughts are taking me. My stomach feels strange. My palms are clammy. I am terrified
of heights.
2. Expository text-explains, clarifies, defines, or interprets a particular subject or idea based on facts
Example: autobiographies and biographies. Magazines
3. Descriptive Texts- The authors describes a topic by giving examples, features, and
characteristics
Example of Descriptive Text: The Iphone6 is unexpectedly light. While the size of its screen is
bigger than those other Iphones that came before. It is thinner and smooth. Its rounded body is
made up of aluminum stainless, steel and glass. "
Example: Travel brochure
4. Recount text - retells a past events in chronological order on in which they happened. It can be factual
or personal
Example: News, Travel journal
4. Persuasive text- convinces readers to accept an idea through the use of various devices such as
rhetorical questions, advertising propaganda, repetition, emotive language, exaggeration, addressing the
readers directly, and using facts to back up a point.
Example: Election flyers, posters and banners
APPLICATION
Group 1: Create a one paragraph narrative text about a real event that happened in CEASNHS this year.
Group 2: Create a recount text about a trending issue that happened in 2018.
Group 3: Create a short advertisement or commercial using the given picture.
Group 4: Create a short expository text on how the item in the image is used.
Criteria:
