4. Flanged Ends, 63mm (2½”) and Larger: Cast-iron body, bolted screen
retainer with off-center blowdown fitted with pipe plug.
5. Butt Welded Ends, 63mm (2½”) and Larger: Schedule 40 cast carbon steel
body, bolted screen retainer with off-center blowdown fitted with pipe plug.

D. Dielectric Unions:
1. General: Provide standard products recommended by manufacturer for use
in service indicated, which effectively isolate ferrous from non-ferrous piping
(electrical conductance), both or either side of the union jointly between pipes
(e.g. copper + ferrous union+ ABS pipe or copper + ferrous union + copper) to
prevent galvanic action, and stop corrosion.

2.03 FABRICATED PIPING SPECIALTIES

A. Drip Pans: Provide drip pans fabricated from corrosion-resistant sheet metal with
watertight joints, and with edges turned up 63mm (2½”). Reinforce top, either by RETAIN
structural angles or by rolling top over 6mm (¼”) steel rod. Provide hole, gasket,
and flange at low point for watertight joint and 25mm (1”) drain line connection.

B. Pipe Sleeves: Provide pipe sleeves of one of the following:

1. Sheet Metal: Fabricate from galvanized sheet metal; round tube closed with
snap lock joint, welded spiral seams, or welded longitudinal joint. Fabricate
from the following gauges: 75mm (3") and smaller, 20 gauge; 100mm to
150mm (4" to 6"), 16 gauge; over 150mm (6"), 14 gauge.
2. Steel-Pipe: Fabricate from Schedule 40 galvanized steel pipe; remove burrs.
3. (for pipes through fire rated and fire resistive floors and walls): Schedule 40
galvanized steel pipe sleeve. ü
4. (for pipes passing through non-fire rated beams, walls, footings and dry
floors): PVC pipe sleeve or wooden box to form the opening. ü
5. (for ferrous pipes passing through external retaining walls): Cast iron or
ductile iron with integral puddle.

C. Sleeve Seals: Provide sleeve seals for sleeves located in walls and floors, of one of the RETAIN
following:
1. Lead and Oakum: Caulked between sleeve and pipe.
2. Fire Stopping Material and Sealant: Approved type packed between sleeve
and pipe or duct.

2.04 SPARE PARTS RETAIN

A. Provide the following quantities of spare parts:
1. Dielectric unions - 2% of installed quantity with 1 No. as a minimum for
each size.
2. Y-type strainers - 2% of installed quantity with 1 No. as a minimum for
each size.
3. Pipe escutcheons - 2% of installed quantity.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION OF MANUFACTURED PIPING SPECIALTIES

A. Pipe Escutcheons: Install pipe escutcheons on each pipe penetration through floors,
walls, partitions, and ceilings where penetration is exposed to view, and on exterior of
building. Secure escutcheon to pipe or insulation so escutcheon covers penetration
hole, and is flush with adjoining surface.
