The cat brought me to sky (it can fly!!) to view the world. I saw my school SMK Tung
Hua Sibu, Sibu Civic Center and my uncle's farm. It was the happiest moment ever in
my life. I am free from books, exams, tuitions and homeworks.
The white cat then turned into Ultraman and continued to fly across the South China
Sea at light speed. In just about 10 second, we reach the top of KLCC tower. Kuala
Lumpur is even bigger. It was so cool riding an Ultraman.
Suddenly and surprisingly, he freed me middle in the sky. I was falling. I screamed
loudly for help! Three seconds later, I found my self at the floor near my bed. No blood
but tears in my eyes.
Thank God it was just a dream. However, I am back to real life, and have to study for
exam, do exercise once again.

WATER POLLUTION AND ITS EFFECT ON THE ECOSYSTEM
About 70 of the earth surface is composed of water . Water is therefore
a precious substance for life . It is undoutly one of the most precious
natural resource that we have in the world . Just made of hydrogen and
oxygen , water is crucial in supporting life on earth which would be
otherwise non-existent without these two elements . Water is basically
essential for all the process on this earth .
However , even with this knowledge , human have been polluting rivers ,
lakes and oceans at an alarming rate . We are losing a lot of aquatic
habitat and destruction of aquatic ecosystem at a rate that we may soon
put this planet in the danger of extinction . We have been haring our
planet through our careless activities which are causing death of
water species . In addition to killing of millions of water species , we
have also been dirtying our drinking water . Water is an important
component of our life that we cannot do without and therefore whether it
is clean and safe or dirty and polluted , we will have to drink it . We
have continuously endangered our health through consumption of dirty and
polluted water .
There have been several measures that have been instituted in order to
mitigate the situation but to no avail . Yes we accept that we have made
some progress but we have not reached where we were supposed to be . We
are yet to combat water pollution to the full . But first we have to
understand the different factors that are entwined in water pollution
so that we can understand the solutions and their drawbacks . Water
pollution has led to disruption of the aquatic ecosystem while we are
busy discussion political , social and ethical considerations to deal
with the problem .
Ecological problem and its causes
Water pollution means to make it foul , unclean or dirty . It occurs
when water is adversely affected by an activity which adds large
amount of materials . When this material is unfit or incompatible with
the intended use of water , then we say that the water has been polluted .
The material that makes water unfit for the intended use is called the
pollutant .
Water pollution is an ecological problem as it affects a variety of
life forms that depends on the water . Water body forms an important
ecosystem in which there are different species that depend on each other
and therefore when water is polluted this cycle of interaction is
affected . One of the major effects of water pollution has been loss of
some species in the water ecosystem .
Pollutant can be from a point source or they can be from a non-point
source . Point source occurs when pollutant is emitted direct to a
body of water . For example the industry emission or oil spill from the
traveling vessel .
On the other hand non point pollution occurs when pollutants are
indirectly delivered to the body of the water mainly through the
environmental changes...

My Best Friend
Norella is my best friend in school. She is a fair, pretty girl with dimpled cheeks. She andI first met at
kindergarten
and we became great friends. She is kind, jolly and helpful. We are classmates again this year and we go
to school together each morning. Norella likes to joke and play games. She lives near my house. In the
evenings, weusually meet at my house. We sit in the garden and read story books. She is
good atMathematics. So, whenever I find difficulties in my Mathematics homework, I would ask her to
help me. Sometimes, when my parents go out in the evening, she comes over to
keep me company
and we watch television together. That way I do not feel lonely.I hope Norella and I will be in the same
class again next year. I like her very much andshe is my best friend.
My Country - Malaysia
My country, Malaysia, is a small independent country. Many races of people liveharmoniously together.
There are Malays, Chinese, Indians and a
sprinkling
of foreigners from Europe, America, Japan, Korea and the surrounding South East Asiancountries.
Malaysians are
noted
for their friendliness and warm hospitality. Each racecarries on with its own way of life. Most of
the people in large towns work in banks, offices, government departments and firms. The young attend
schools, colleges or universities. Those in the rural areas work in
paddyfields
, vegetable plots, poultry farms, rubber, coconut and oil palm estates or tin-mines and
factories.Malaysians, being of different races, can be seen on the streets in their various
costumes, adding color to the scene. The warm, sunny and wet climate throughout the year
makesMalaysia a tropical paradise. Visitors admire the green forested hills, the golden beacheswith
graceful coconut palms fringing them, the blue sea and, of course, the local cuisine.Foreign tourists find
these places ideal for a holiday, as they get away from their coldcountries.Besides, Malaysia's cool hill-
resorts like Cameron Highlands, Fraser's Hill and GentingHighlands make the day pleasant and
refreshing, away from the hot lowlands.Lastly, Malaysia is a rich country, famous the world over for its
tin, rubber and palm oilexports. Kuala Lumpur, the capital city, is the largest in Malaysia, with many
modern buildings. The international airport at Subang is always busy. I am proud of my countrywhich
I love dearly.
Teachers'Day
Every year, all schools throughout Malaysia celebrate Teachers' Day - a day to honour and remember
our teachers who are our leaders and who guide us in our education duringour youthful days.Teachers
are very much a part of a student's life as they influence a child, right fromKindergarten days to Upper
Secondary days; and perhaps beyond. It is they who preparethe child for his or her life in
society.Teachers' Day is held to show our appreciation to our teachers who work hard and
bear patiently with us. In most schools, pupils bring gifts of flowers, presents and other
tokens
, which are sometimes hand-made, to show that they care for their teachers. A party is held where tasty
refreshments and drinks are served in the classroom for both theteachers and the students. Everyone
has a good time and the day ends earlier than usual.Teachers play a very important role in
the development of a child. However, their effortsare seldom appreciated. That is why Teachers' Day is
so significant to teachers; it is onlyon this day that they are appreciated and honoured for their deeds.

My Best Pal
Close friendships are hard to come by these days. In an ever-changing world with
people striving to achieve their interpretation of preordained success, it is hard to
know who your true friends are. Fortunately, I found my best pal early at the tender
age of seven. We were both enrolled at the same school and were at wits’ ends as we
searched tirelessly for our designated classes.
Samantha and I got acquainted as both of us were in the same class and sat next to each
other. Samantha was a happy-go-lucky girl who always managed to breathe fresh air
into the sometimes arid classroom. She always knew what to say and would voice them
at the best possible moments. Both pupils and teachers alike enjoyed her company and
liveliness. There was hardly ever a dull moment when she was around with her funny
quips and expressions.
Samantha was born with a silver spoon. Her father was a businessman and her mother
owned and ran a boutique. Both her parents were very caring towards her as she, just
like I, was the only child of the family. Samantha came to school each day with a
perpetual smile. She was a very nice person to be around with. She and I used to go
everywhere together and both of us were rarely seen apart. We used to talk about so
many things as we walked, thoroughly enjoying our time together.
One day, I went to school and forgot to ask my parents for lunch money. At first, I was
not hungry and thought I could bear going without a meal but soon, my stomach began
to growl. Without asking, Samantha generously paid for my meal and drinks during
recess. The incident revealed to me how lucky I was to have such a caring and
compassionate friend.
As time went on, people started teasing us as we were spending more and more time
together. We seemed to know what each other thought and we cared for each other
deeply. Was I in love with her? I did not know then and we both knew we were too
young for all that emotional roller coaster.
Currently, Samantha and I are studying at different schools. It was hard to be apart at
first, but technology in the form of instant messaging and e-mails have helped to bridge
the gap in our friendship. I sincerely wish our friendship will never end as it would be
equivalent to waking up from a beautiful dream.
The activity I always love to do is reading. I like to read boks such as comics,
novels, story books and many more.I like to read when traveling ,at school and at home.
Reading helps me to improve my essays. Therefore,it also keeps my mind relax and
smooth.

HOW TO ANSWER BI PAPER 1 AND PAPER 2 WISELY AND EFFECTIVELY BY P. RANJIT SINGH
Tip UPSR: Tinggalkan dulu soalan susah ketika jawab Bahasa Inggeris
Oleh P Rangit Singh
Berita Harian

Bahasa Inggeris
PAPER 1
English Paper 1 contains 40 multiple choice questions. They cover the vocabulary, social
situation, grammar and comprehension aspects of the language.
In Section A, pupils are to answer questions which test their vocabulary.
Pupils are given three different types of questions namely word level questions, phrase level
questions and sentence level questions.
For this section pupils need to study the pictures given in order to answer most of the questions.
Pupils can use the ‘Wh’ questions to derive the information from the pictures.
Make sure you read all the options given. Understand them and finally make your choice.
Remember to choose the best answer.
In Section B, different social situations are given through the speech bubbles in the pictures.
Before proceeding to the options (A, B, C and D), look at the picture and then read the dialogues
in the speech bubbles. Understand the social function in the questions (to enquire, to assure, to
inform, to explain, to apologise). Then choose the best sentence that fits the empty speech
bubble base on the social function.
In the grammar section (Section C) pupils are required to answer questions on grammar,
punctuation and spelling. For grammar, pupils need to read the questions and understand the
grammar rules that need to be applied. After choosing the answer, you need to think whether
the answer you have chosen is the best answer. Reason out the answer by recalling the grammar
rules you have learnt.
When choosing the answer for the punctuation questions, pupils need to read all the options
given. While reading the sentences, circle the errors. Then compare the sentence with the other
options in the question until you find the sentence without errors.
When answering questions on synonym or antonym, make sure you give the synonym or
antonym in context (the meaning of the word used in the sentences) and not its general
meaning.
For questions that test spelling, pupils need to read the options given carefully. After that
compare the words with the other options and choose the word that has the correct spelling.
Usually questions in Section D test pupils on vocabulary and grammar. Read the text given first
then determine the tense. Look for clues (words that show the tense) in the text to help you. You
also need to refer to the picture given.
A linear and a non linear text are given in the comprehension section. Pupils need to read the
text given at least twice. During the first reading, pupils need to get an idea what the text is
about. This will help them to get a general view of the text. During the second reading, make
sure you understand the whole text especially the important points. If there is a word in a
sentence that you don’t understand, underline it and read the sentence again a few more times.
You may be able to guess the meaning of the word. Then read the questions carefully and choose
the best answer. Make sure you read all the options given before choosing the best answer.
PAPER 2
Section A
* This section tests pupils’ ability to write sentences. Pupils will be given a picture and they have
to construct five sentences. Pupils may choose to construct the sentences without using the
helping words.
Simple sentence
Example: The boys are playing football.
Compound sentence
Example: The boys and their friends are playing football in the field.
Complex sentence
Example: Johan, who is wearing jersey number seven, is playing football in the field.
* Do not make assumptions. Write sentences on what you see in the picture. If you want to use
names, make sure that you describe clearly the person you are writing about.
Example:
Zul is sitting with his friends. (WRONG)
Zul, who is the tallest among the boys, is holding a hockey stick. (CORRECT)
* After you have completed all the five sentences, make sure you check the grammar,
punctuation and spelling. Write clearly so as not to confuse the examiner.
Example:
My uncle and aunt are watching television in the living room. (WRONG)
A man and a woman are watching television in the living room. (CORRECT)
Section B
* This section contains two questions. Pupils need to transfer the information from the question
into the table. Then, they have to make a choice based on the question given and state the
reasons for the choice.
* For information transfer pupils need to be aware of the spelling, punctuation and their writing.
They need to write clearly and obey the punctuation rules. If the answer written is not legible,
no marks will be awarded for the answer. Pick and choose the information based on what is
required in the table. Do not copy in any particular sequence.
* For the second part of the question, pupils need to make a choice and state the reasons for
their choice. Before you start your answer, read the instruction. Make sure you write based on
the choice made.
Example:
You and your family are going on a trip. Based on the information given, which type of tour
would you suggest? Give reasons for your choice.
* Don’t only write statements. Support them with logical and suitable reasons. Give some
elaboration on your reasons.
Example:
I would choose Aerobus 380 because it can carry the most number of passengers. It is also the
longest and the widest among the three planes. Thus, it will be more spacious and I will be able
walk around in the plane especially since I’m going to Paris. It is the fastest and does not need
any refueling until its destination. It is powered by four jet engines. It will be able to reach the
destination faster than the others.
* After completing the answers, pupils must check the sentences for grammar, spelling or
punctuation errors.
Section C
* Pupils need to write creatively in this section based on the pictures and words given in the
question. Pupils must read the instruction before writing their answer. Pupils may need to use
all the words. Sometimes they may not need to use all the words. This depends on the
instruction. Therefore, it is crucial for pupils to read the instruction carefully.
Example:
1. Write a story based on the pictures below. You may use the words given to help you. Write
your
answers in the space provided.
OR
2. Write a story based on the pictures below. Use all the words given to help you. Write your
answers in
the space provided.
* Pupils are free to name the characters in their answer. They can also name the places in the
pictures.
* Start your answer with an interesting introduction and end it with an interesting closure. Your
introduction need not be too long. Two or three sentences will be sufficient.
* Write at least four sentences for each picture. Make sure you describe the pictures well. You
may use proverbs and similes to make your answer more interesting.
* After completing the answer, read through the sentences. Check for any errors in grammar,
punctuation and spelling.
Overall, pupils need to be alert and concentrate while answering the questions. Leave the
question that are difficult, answer the easier ones and come back to the difficult ones later. Read
the instruction before attempting to answer the questions. Finally, check all your answers
before you hand in the answer script to the invigilators. So, good luck and may God bless you al
