Why do we celebrate Easter? ( Isaiah 53:3), . Hebrews 12:1,2, (Deut.

21:23), Gal 3:12-14

 the name Easter is derived from the Hebrew word pesach for 'he passed
over'

 just a holiday period,

 time to rest from the daily hassles of office work, etc.
 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the
keys of hell and of death – Revelation 1:18 (KJV). Easter celebration is all about the death
AND the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Also, Easter day reminds us of and emphasizes
our redemptive blessings.
 The resurrection of Jesus is the anchor of the Christian faith. The purpose of His death would
not have been complete if He did not rise again.
 By all accounts, Jesus died by crucifixion--the most shameful and public way to die in
antiquity. In an honor-and-shame culture, Jesus' death by crucifixion should have put
an end to his following and stopped any trumpeting about Jesus being the messiah
or savior (see Luke 24.19-21: "We had hoped [past tense] he would be the one to
redeem Israel").

1. Our victory over sin and Satan lies on death and resurrection of Jesus. This wisdom of God
totally defeated the enemy. 1 Corinthians 2:7-8 says, “But we speak the wisdom of God in a
mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which
none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the
Lord of glory.”

2. The resurrection of Jesus reconciled us back to God (1Peter 1:3) and restored our position in
God before the fall of man (Adam). The devil tried to stop this redemption when he tried to kill
Jesus as a baby but failed. It is too late for the devil now.

3. Easter celebration shows our acknowledgement and appreciation of what Jesus suffered
and achieved for us. Furthermore, it is a reminder and celebration of the devil’s defeat forever.
The devil lost all the power he had over Christians the day Jesus resurrected. An understanding
of the devil’s total defeat empowers Christians to challenge the enemy and exercise their
authority over him in Jesus name.

4. A Christian who lacks this understanding will still be molested and oppressed by the enemy.
This is why Satan will do everything possible to stop the preaching and teaching of the
resurrection of Jesus and its power. Easter day is a day among other days that resurrection of
Jesus is preached all over the world. Until it is preached, people will not believe or be delivered,
(Romans 10:14).

5. Assurance of better life beyond in heaven: 1 Corinthians 15:19

6. Spiritual maturity comes from denying our self and allowing Jesus Christ to live
through us. But we can only achieve this kind of maturity by grace through faith. I have
been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life
which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave
Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through
the law, then Christ died in vain. (Galatians 2:20-21)#

7. You are one of the people that Jesus suffered and died for in order to demonstrate
His love for you. The message of the cross seems foolish to those who are physically
minded but for us who are sensitive to the Holy Spirit we know it is part of God’s perfect
plan. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us
who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom
of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate." (1 Corinthians 1:18-19)

8. Here’s why the cross matters: It is at the cross that we see God most clearly. If history were the
vastness of space, the cross would be its brightest star. We see the fullness of God’s being most
clearly at the cross. We see the fullness of His active purposes most clearly at the cross.

At the cross…

1) …We see God’s sovereignty—reigning with absolute control over humanity’s greatest sin.

2) …We see God’s purpose—making known the mystery of His will prepared before time.

3) …We see God’s plan—to unite all things, on heaven and on earth, in Him.

4) …We see God’s judgment—requiring recompense for guilt.

5) …We see God’s holiness—demanding the perfect sacrifice.

6) …We see God’s power—crushing the Son of God according to the purpose of His will.

7) …We see God’s wrath—punishing the wretchedness of sin.

8) …We see God’s sorrow—wailing as only a forsaken son can.

9) …We see God’s mystery—the Son, as God, separated from the Father, committing His Spirit
to God.

10) …We see God’s compassion—pleading to the Father to forgive the ignorant.

11) …We see God’s gift—His one and only Son, bruised and broken on our behalf.
12) …We see God’s mercy—making unrighteous sinners righteous.

13) …We see God’s love—Christ dying for sinners.

14) …We see God’s rescue operation—delivering us from the domain of darkness to the kingdom
of His Son.

15) …We see God’s proposal—pledging Himself to His bride forever.

16) …We see God’s revelation—the Word of God speaking His last so He might speak on behalf
of many.

17) …We see God’s victory—disarming His enemies, putting them to shame, and triumphing over
them.

18) …We see God’s glory—the name of the Father being magnified for the sake of all peoples.
