COURSE TOPICS: (syllabus)
THEORY:

Introduction: Industrial world, safety, preventive measurements, industrial system components, sensors in
detail, actuators in detail, controller’s definitions, measurement and accuracy

Data acquisition and communication: V to C and C to V conversion, filters, industrial transmitter and
receivers, microcontroller based data system, industrial communication standards and protocols

Process control: why control, on-off control, P control, PI control, PD control, PID control, stability, case
study to control motors (actuators)

PLC: Introduction, architecture, I/O s detail, memory detail, programming details, Ladder logic based control
programming, interfacing with PLC, SCADA and DCS introduction, specification, working principle,
telemetry system

Robotics: introduction, history, types, transformations, Kinematics, dynamics, trajectory planning, obstacle
avoidance, moving robots, case study

PRACTICAL:
 To determine characteristics of RTD (Resistive Temperature Detector) temperature sensor
 To determine characteristics of NTC & PTC Thermistor. To determine the characteristic of
thermocouple.
 To analyze and verify the principle of Piezo resistive force transducers
 To verify the principle of Ultrasonic sensors and its application as range sensor
 To implement two and three input logic gates in Siemens Simatic Step 7 software
 To implement two and three input logic gates in Siemens S7-300 PLC
 To design and implement the operation and application of SR and RS Flip Flops in Siemens S7-300
PLC
 To design and implement the operation and application of various timers in Siemens S7-300 PLC
 To design and analyze the operation and application of various counters in Siemens S7-300 PLC
 To develop PLC Ladder Logic Diagram for controlling operation of an overhead tank
 To develop PLC Ladder Logic Diagram for controlling operation of a conveyer belt
 To develop PLC Ladder Logic Diagram for controlling operation of an industrial tank unit
 To develop PLC Ladder Logic Diagram to interface and to control industrial actuator (AC/DC motors)
