Conclusions on the LTE Design requirements
• Do not go for the upper 20MHz block from 2.67-2.69GHz of the 2.6GHz band
• LTE2600 deployment prefered indoor by using of LTE Distributed Antenna Systems at
Airports in general to avoid any impact on the Radar signal as well as on the LTE2600
signal
• In case Macro cellular outdoor deployment is needed the following actions need to be
taken to the Radar rejection of the LTE Signal as well as the LTE rejection of the Radar
signal and spurious emissions:
– Identify which channels in the range of 2.7 to 3.1GHz are used of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at
the airport and where is the ATC located
– In case of using the upper 20MHz band the LTE2600 eNodeB Emission mask need to be tighter
(-45dBm/MHz) by additional filtering
– Apply a coordination zone of 1km for the Downlink as well as for the Uplink (interference
distance)
– Carefully planning of mast hight and antenna orientation
– Push the Radar operator to improve the preselection performance of the RADAR system on the
receiver side as well as the Spectrum mask on the transmitter side
