S52 - MANUAL / AUTOMATIC - The manual mode facility allows a Service Technician
to conduct stall checks and clutch pressure checks. It also permits movement of
the vehicle, if necessary, to a repair area. With the manual mode switch in the
'On' position, some of the pre-programmed safety feature will be disabled. This
allows unauthorised selection of reverse or any forward gear with the body
raised. It is recommended that ‘Automatic’ should be selected for normal
operation. It is recommended that the mode selection key is removed from the
unit and retained in a safe place until required by Service personnel.
Note: The manual mode can only be selected if the mode selection switch is in the
Power position and the transmission is in neutral.
S53 - POWER / ECONOMY KEY - The Power mode is designed for applications
involving heavy loads and hilly duty cycles where performance rather than fuel
economy is of prime importance. The Economy mode is designed for applications
involving lighter loads and level duty cycles or where fuel economy is more
important than performance.

The speedometer when installed as new or replaced will require

calibration prior to being put to work.

On the front of the speedometer there is a pressure pad.

1. Hold down pressure pad.

2. Turn on ignition - Do not start engine. PULSE
3. Hold pressure pad until the word ‘PULSE’ appears on the
tachometer display.
4. Release pressure pad and a calibration figure will be
displayed, similar to above.
5. Each digit will flash for 4-5 seconds each, prior to
advancing to the next digit.
6. To alter a digit, press the pressure pad.
7. Once calibration is complete, turn off ignition.

Troubleshooting
General Transmission Troubleshooting 82

Make the following checks prior to troubleshooting,

removing transmission or connected components.

• Are there any active codes?

• Is the shift lever in ‘n’ to allow engine start?
• Is the battery properly connected & charged?
• Are all fluid levels correct?
• Is the voltage to the ECU correct?
• Is the engine properly tuned?
• Is engine fuel flow correct?
• Is air flow to cooler and radiator unrestricted?
• Are there any fluid leaks? Where is the originating point?
• Are all electrical connections correct?
