907-94dd7ab6cbbb%40sessionmgr4009. Lehmann's piece provides an in-depth analysis

of the use of Marxism in the media with a focus on its impact on consumers. It covers

concepts such as false consciousness and fetishism. Information and evidence from this

source can be used to write a stronger analysis of the use of Marxist theories in the Audi

commercial. The piece seems to support my stance on the ad. However, from some of the

language in the writing, it seems as though the author has some bias on the topic;

therefore, it is important to take the author's findings with a grain of salt.

“Marxist Criticism.” Critical Theory Today: a User-Friendly Guide, by Lois Tyson, Routledge,

2015, pp. 54–58. This chapter in the textbook provides an introduction to the use of

Marxism in literature. Though it does not go into too much detail, the ideologies are

explained in a digestible way for the reader which can also be used as evidence in the

essay to sum up specific concepts that would otherwise become wordy and vague.

the emotional effect commercials can have on their audience, it is rather dated. This could

mean the findings of the study may not be as relevant as when it was published. Even so,

the conclusions can be cited as a way of supporting the commercial's appeal to emotion,

specifically its overreliance on them.

Wayne, Mike. “Marxism and Media Studies: Key Concepts and Contemporary Trends.”

995e-d7dba5103fc1%40sdc-v-sessmgr06. Wayne's piece heavily contributes to the

argument of Marxist theories in my essay as it directly addresses the issues of Marxism in

media. Personally, the language can be a bit confusing and therefore harder to use its

findings. When using its findings for my own purposes, it may be better to paraphrase

and explain the meaning rather than directly quoting when my audience may too be

confused by the language.
