Report of Training Program

on
Data Entry Operator (IT/ITes)
Under DeenDayal KAUSHAL Kendra Scheme

The department of Information Technology in RGMCET, had successfully conduncted a

vocational training programmme on “Data Entry Operator (IT/ITes)” under DeenDayal KAUSHAL
Kendra Scheme, for the student participants of TC.Govt.Jr. College, Panyam, during the period
06/11/2017 to 11/11/2017.

Significance of this course: Data Entry Operator role had become a fundamental requirement
for most of the organizations, as every organization is using the computers and their business
data is very much essential for them to use on immediate and easy basis. The work of data entry
operator can be more for entering, manipulating and maintaining the business data for future
use.

Objectives of this course: To impart the most up-to date computer knowledge especially in
respect of clerical and documentation skills to the participants in order to prepare them to keep
pace with new technological innovations, so as to help them in maintaining database, generate
graphs, financial statements, reports, presentation material, etc. and also begin the
documentation center on their own.

Duration and Participants: The duration to deliver the concepts that are framed in the syllabus
which includes theory and hands-on practices is of fifty hours and the number of participants
registered are 78 and the number of participants attended are 75. The participants list is
enclosed with this report.

Deliverables in the course: During this training programme the following tasks are delivered to
the participants.
- Technical training to the candidates to the level of requirement of the Government
agencies/Private agencies to make sure of entering all data would be accurate.
- Logistics required for data entry
- Training the candidates to understand and in maintenance of secrecy of data entered

Details of topics covered during the training session are as follows.

Day1: During morning session we had discussed the evolution and computer generations along
with the vital differences between each generation .Basic characteristics of computers are
discussed, which includes units to measure the storage capacity of devices, units used to
measure the speed of different computer device. The example computers such as UNIVAC and
ENIAC of first generation computing devices are also discussed.

Different motherboard components has been discussed and later during afternoon session
participants had hands on practice on motherboard components and a demo on motherboard
was given and as a supplement few of the mother component videos were projected for a
comprehensive understanding.

Day2: In the first session we have discussed different types of motherboards such as XT
motherboard, AT motherboard etc. and even the differences between them discussed along
with differences among the types of motherboards. In the second session, participants were
practically shown few of the motherboard types and had a open discussion on clarification of
various participants doubts.

Day3: In morning session we had discussed about the primary memory types , RAM and ROM.
Discussed the different types of RAM’s and ROM’s with their functionalities and their vital utility
in any computer machine. A demo was given on assembling and dissembling of a computer
machine.

In afternoon session, hands on session was carried on with respect to assembling and
dissembling of a computer system. Made the participants how to unplug and plug in various
internal and external computer components.

Day4: In the first session, Concepts relating to Operating System like meaning of OS, role of OS,
features of OS , types of OS and its major significance was discussed. A demo was given on
installation of Windows Xp and Windows 7.0 OS including the installation and significance of
device drivers. Hands on practice was carried out by the participants with reference to
installation of Windows XP and Windows 7.0 as these are used mostly by many firms and other
organizations.
During the afternoon session , a discussion was carried on different Computer hardware
problems , their frequency of occurrence and how to troubleshoot them instantly and discussed
the list of precautions to be taken to avoid them. Hands on practice was carried with respect to
fixing of different computer hardware problems and had a discussion on different types of
External and Internal DOS commands. A major focus was kept on formatting of hard disk in
command mode. Functionality of all the DOS command was shown practically on the machine.
A discussion was carried on Microsoft Office 2007 application , its added features and had a
brief discussion on different Office versions.

Day5: During morning session a demo was given on Microsoft word, various word components
and hands session was conducted during which the participants were made to design different
word templates.

During afternoon session, a discussion and a comprehensive demo was given on Microsoft Excel
2007, its features, differences between prior and 2007 version and a demo was on usage ,
syntax and errors of commonly used functions. And the participants were made to work out on
different excel based queries having some reliable and valid questions. A demo was given on
Publisher and its features and the students were made to practice few publisher templates. We
had discussed Microsoft Powerpoint , its features and a demo was given with respect to adding
of slides, adding themes, adding backgrounds, inserting tables , pictures etc.The participants
were made to design few powerpoint templates having different features and they were made
how to run the powerpoint presentation etc.

Day6: During first session few network related concepts like what is a network ?, different
computer networks like LAN, MAN, WAN etc, advantages , disadvantages of computer networks
were discussed and practically the participants were shown the different networking devices
like Hub, Switch, Router etc and discussed their functionality too in the real networks.

In second session , we had discussed the internet concepts like browsing , precautions to be
taken during browsing , searching methods etc.And we had discussed the Internet Protocol
Concepts like IP address, classess of IP addresses , types of IP addresses and a demo was given
usage of few network commands like ping etc
