vs.
Affidavit of Probable Cause
CORY DAVID JOHNSON
Date of Birth: 06/01/1981
Arrestee
On 02/01/2019 00:21 the defendant was arrested for the offense(s) of:
I believe there is probable cause to charge the defendant with these charges because:
The victim reported her husband was threatening with an ax. Upon police arrival, Cory Johnson came out from
the side of the house threatening to "beat" the officer's "ass". He balled up his fists and tried to punch two
officers. Myself and the other officer were able to get Cory to the ground, but he refused all commands to stop
fighting . He continued to try and stand up with us on top of him. We were struggling to get his hands under
control and keep him down on the ground. I had to deliver multiple strikes before he was subdued and placed in
handcuffs. The victim advised me he was intoxicated and threatening to destroy the house with an ax. She
never saw the ax and she was not threatened with it. He was balling up his fists and following her around yelling
and throwing things around the house. She was scared he was going to hurt her and called police. I observed the
items strewn about the kitchen area. The ax was in the basement, where he had been striking chunks out of the
brick wall. I could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Cory's mouth. He had made the
comment that he was "drunk". His speech was slurred and thick tongued. His eyes were bloodshot and glassy. I
determined that he was a danger to himself and others, due to the level of his intoxication and his conduct.
I declare under penalty of perjury and under the laws of the State of Utah that the foregoing is true and correct.
