FIELD DESIGN USING MESA SOFTWARE

1. Go to exclusion, click edit exclusion,


@ the base click survey boundary
@ the base click define exclusion
2. Change color
Change pen size (0.85)
Click on exclusion defn
Click on ‘Import window”
Click OK (2ce)
3. Click on Import window
Call up your corner boundary co-ordinate
4. Define your spacings
Click on ‘GO’
Click ‘yes’
5. Deactivate your exclusion window
6. Go to layout
7. Go to units, change from feet to meters, click OK
8. Go to layout – unit template, click OK
9. Go to ‘Layout Template’ click on it to set your bin size (25), click OK

NB. Patch= 4775= { (192*50)/2} – 25

Click shoot option

Crossline 120*50 = 600

10. Click specify line Bearing (0)


11. Click use full Template
12. Click OK
13. Click Display Bin - Bin Grid Settings – Autofit
14. Bin Analysis – Fold Calculation
15. Click Fold, offsets & Azimuths
GENERATING REMAINING SHOTS USING MESA

1. Open MESA to load Bin in


2. Go to layout – recv – file import
3. Click import window – open data file
4. Define : Set First Line, Line Number (RL) (first line), recv, X,Y, & Z coordinate by clicking
appropriately and
clicking A=B to define
 Use the eye glass icon to check your definition
5. Click GO – Yes –OK
6. Do same for source
7. To import X file, click Gun-like icon botton (shoot)
8. Click ‘ Import Template’ under ‘shooting via file Import’
9. Click shoot – Import window - OK – import window
10. OK. Bin in loaded.
11. Now let’s load the binout ( X file only)
Click Shoot
A dialog box comes up: “clear existing templates / append…” click clear
12. Continue as in step 9 – 10
13. Save the error log if it comes out. This is bcos the Bin in wasn’t update.
14. Out put – SPS – click select under source file to save your desired folder
15. Since you want “unfired source” = outstanding shots yet to be taken, click “write out unfired
Sources” and uncheck “ write out fired sources”
16 Click OK

GENERATING BININ USING MESSA


1. MESSA doesn’t recognize the SPS format from spspreplotgen4. Therefore, input the SPS
from spspreplotgen4 into OMNI. Then output the SPS.
2. Call in the SPS using MESSA.
3. Output your sps from MESSA. Compare this with the any old binin format. This will
enable you delete the un-necessary columns.
4. Binin is ready without the need of going through the stress of OMNI WORKSHOP!
