Abstract

[(Austen) (Dickens) (Achebe) (Shakespeare) is one of the most studied [(novelist)

(playwrights)(poets)] in English departments. They are well known of their distinguished

[(narrative) (dramatic)] characteristics and style. A huge body of researches dealt with

his/her different literary aspects in his/her [(novels) (plays)(poems)]

The present study aims at investigating the effect of (independent variable) on

{sample of the study}. A background exploration of (independent variable) has been

investigated with its different phases to be the research main approach of the analysis. Two

[(chapters) (acts) (poems)] were selected to be fully analysed in terms of the (independent

variable) features.

Introduction

Statement of the Problem

(Independent variable) has been an influential theme/phenomenon/background in English

literature. It plays a significant role in [Modern/Medieval/19th century] [novels/plays/poems].

The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of (independent variable) in (dependent

variable). While handling this main issue, the following questions will be answered:

1. What are the main characteristics of (independent variable)?

2. How important is (independent variable) in [Modern/Medieval/19th century]

[novels/plays/poems]?

3. How far does (independent variable) affect (dependent variable)?

4. What are the main features of (independent variable) in (dependent variable)?

Significance of the Study

The study aims at investigating how far (novelist, poet, playwright) was affected by

(independent variable) in his/her (dependent variable). This [novel/play/poems] is studied in

most Saudi English departments. Thus, this study is expected to be beneficial to:

1. English department literature curriculum and course designers since it will provide

them with new insights of the effect of the (independent variable) aspects.

2. English department literature teachers as it will give them new scope of analysing

(dependent variable) and better understanding the (dependent variable) cultural

perspectives.

3. English department students who may benefit from understanding the cultural

background, concept and philosophies that can help them better appreciate the

(dependent variable)

Limitations of the Study

The present study will be limited to the following:

1. Analysing (dependent variable) in relation to the (independent variable) features and

characteristics.

2. The analysis will be limited to {sample of the study} where (independent variable)

features are quite vigorous and significant in the development of [plot/scene] and

theme.

The present research is descriptive in nature. (Independent variable) has been investigated

and explored. The data has been processed to form a list of the features and aspects according to

which the (dependent variable) will be analysed.

Procedures of the Study

In order to answer the research questions, the research will adopt the following

procedures:

1. Review relevant literature and studies dealing with (independent variable).

2. Consult relevant literature and studies relating to (dependent variable).

3. Conclude a list of (independent variable) aspects, features, and phases to be set as criterion

of analysing (sample of the study)

4. Analyse (sample of the study) the light of (independent variable).

5. Interpret the study results and discuss them in relation to the previous studies consulted.

6. Draw out conclusions and suggestions for further studies.
