1 The VDI3805 Selector

To start...

The Belimo VDI 3805 Selector offers you the option of selecting TGA components and applying
them per drag & drop, together with their technical data, directly into a CAD system.

Starting the VDI3805 Selector

Start with a double-click on the icon

1.1 The screen layout

The layout of the VDI3805 Selector is identical with the WebSelector and contains the same func-
tions and presentations; only the downloading of the product basket and the CAD placement pro-
gram is not included.

Brief instructions for the VDI3805 WebSelector in 7 steps

1. In the left-hand part of the screen, select the assembly section, the type of valves, the designa-
tion and the housing construction form of the valves (other selection choices are optional).

2. Select the nominal width of the valve in the lower screen area.

3. The displayed valve can be rotated by means of selection with the left-hand mouse button
(predefined views can be selected above the displayed valve).

4. Select actuator

5. The selected valve + actuator is placed in the product basket (button at upper right): several
combinations can be placed in the product basket at the same time.

6. Opening the product basket and/or CAD placement program

7. Application of the valve displayed in the display and CAD placement program into an opened
AutoCAD program by "drag'n drop" (7a) or with "Paste" (7b); alternately by saving as a DXF file
(7c).

2 Search and select products

Selection options

1a. The Detail search: Limiting the selection criteria and additional limiting specifications can re-
strict the search to the desired type.

1b. The Quick search: Insofar as the type name of the product is known, this enables direct access
to the technical data.

2. Depending on the limitations, the products which match the selection criteria will be displayed
here. Select your desired product and the information will be displayed in Field 3.

A number of different setting, display and presentation options are available to you in the Product
presentation which will be explained in detail below.

3.1 Presentation, display and model

The Presentation option can be used to select between a detailed, a general and a symbolic view
of the currently selected product.

The Display option offers you the possibility of having the ports and the malfunction range of the
product presented on the screen. The malfunction range defined makes it possible for you to have
collision monitoring in the CAD.

You can use the Model option to see the currently selected product in the graphic 3-D view or as a
3-D wire frame and to place it in a CAD system.

3.2 Actuator and accessories

In the case of rotary valves, for example, the Actuator selection range enables you to select an
actuator which is then also included in your parts list, along with its order number and specification
text.

- with actuator:

In the Accessories selection range, you can, by following the same steps as were described for
actuators, select accessories such as brazed unions or threaded press connections which will then
also appear in your parts list, together with order number and specification text where appropriate.

3.3 The toolbars

3.3.1 Views

The following views are available to you in the Toolbar views: Northwest, Northeast, Southeast,
Southwest, Rear view, Front view, Side view right, Side view left, View from below and View from

above. The product can also be viewed in full-screen mode .

3.3.2 Zoom

The Zoom symbol bar offers you various options for viewing your currently selected product.

- Enlarges the entire selected product.

- Reduces the entire selected product.

- Is used for the purpose of enlarging a particular section.

- Restores the image to original size.

- Is available for the purpose of shifting the product about freely.

3.3.3 Clipboard and settings

- Is used to copy the currently displayed product to the clipboard as a graphic.

- Offers settings for the areas of view, CAD and parts list.

3.3.4 Settings Tabs

The options Background, Ambient light, Diffused light and Highlight can be adjusted for the specific
user on the View tab.

The Dimensions tab allows you to set how the displayed components will be dimensioned.

Individual dimensioning – The component and any actuator which may be fitted will each be di-
mensioned individually.

Overall dimensioning – The component and any actuator which may be fitted will be dimensioned
as a single component.

Individual dimensioning + Overall dimensioning – The individual and the overall dimensioning
will be displayed simultaneously.

In addition, the Colour button enables you to set the colour of the numbers and the dimensioning
lines individually.

The CAD tab enables you to define settings for the areas of Labelling text, Labelling, Labelling in
CAD and Application of the material data.

The Parts list tab enables you to select which article descriptions shall be available in your parts
list. For example: Order no., DATANORM short text and DATANORM specification text.

4 The technical presentation

4.1 Technical data

The general fitting data (SA 700) and the technical product data (SA 710 ff) are displayed on the
"Technical Data" tab.

On Sheet 2 (Heating Fixtures), these are for example the nominal width, the kvs value, the permis-
sible operating temperature, the permissible operating pressure and the maximum permissible
differential pressure.

5 The commercial presentation

5.1 Commercial data

Among other things, the product illustrations and the DATANORM text as a short text and specifi-
cation text are shown on the "Commercial data" tab.

The "copy and paste" function can be used to insert the texts directly into the bid for tender (AVA).

Relevant data for the Facility Management are displayed on the "Maintenance and repair data" tab.

7 The product basket

7.1 The display and CAD placement tool

The selected products can be moved into the display and the CAD placement program with the
"Place in product basket" button. The display and CAD placement tool opens with the option "Dis-
play product basket".

Independent of the CAD platform, the selected products can thus be placed in the CAD system by
means of "drag and drop", along with all of the product properties and the defined connection
points.

Displays of the product properties by means of the properties palette in the CAD, for all presenta-
tion modes in 2-D/3-D, in detailed, general or symbolic presentation.

And/or direct placement of the product properties on the object.

It is also possible to display the product properties directly on the product. For all presentation
modes in 2-D/3-D, in detailed, general or symbolic presentation. The connection points of the ob-
jects are defined.

7.3 Ordering

Using the button "Text file" in the product basket provides you with the option of issuing prod-
uct/order lists (reports) which can be adjusted individually. In addition, using the "Edit quantity" but-
ton enables you to edit the number of selected products.
