Formulas for diatonic progressions in triads

Major

For the iii, you can substitute the I chord with its
third in the bass (ex. in the key of G, you can play
G/B instead of Bm)

For the vii, you can substitute the V chord with the
third in the bass (ex. in the key of G, you can pay
D/F# instead of F# dim.

Minor

For the II, play the V7 with the 5th in the bass (ex.
in Am, play E7/B, in Em play B7/F#
For the III, play the i with the third in the bass (ex.
in Am, play Am/C)
For the V, play a 7th chord
For the vi, play the iv chord with the b3rd in the
bass (in Am, play Dm/F, in Em play Am/C
For the vii, play the V7 chord with the 3rd in the
bass (in Em play B7/D#) or just play a regular V7
chord (in Am, play E7)
