Hydrogenated Acrylonitrile Butadiene O-Rings

Chemical resistance Hydrogenated Acrylonitrile Butadiene (HNBR), also known as Highly Saturated
Nitrile (HSN) is superior to NBR in low brittle temperature, heat, oil, oil additive
• Aliphatic hydrocarbons and sour oil resistance, and is far more resistant to sour gasoline and ozone
• Vegetable and than NBR.
animal fats and oils HNBR is ideal for industrial products normally made of NBR, and can be used
• HFA, HFB and in more severe conditions with much longer service life. This compound is
HFC hydraulic fluids extensively used in R-134A cooling systems. HNBR is not recommended for
exposure to ketones, esters, ethers, and aromatic fluids.
• Dilute acids, bases
and salt solutions at HNBR seals have a very good heat resistance, high strength and excellent
resistance to oxidized fuels and sour crude. Therefore, HNBR seals should
moderate temperatures be considered for application generally to severe for standard Nitriles (Buna)
• Water and steam and should also be considered for selected applications where fluorocarbon
(Viton®) seals are currently being used (applications above 250° F involving
up to 149°C (300°F) high-pressure CO2, H2S and corrosion inhibitors).
• Ozone, aging
Hydrogenated nitrile is a synthetic polymer that results from the hydrogenation
and weathering of nitrile rubber (NBR). In this process the molecular “double bonds” in the
NBR primary polymer chain undergo a hydrogenation process and therefore
the term “hydrogenated nitrile
Not suitable with:
• Chlorinated hydrocarbons
• Polar solvents
(ketones, esters
and ethers)
• Strong acids
