LETTER TO THE READERS

Dear readers,

Hello readers! I’ am Via and I’ am a senior at Pagalanggang National High

School. I made this portfolio so you can learn about my Work Immersion Experience and

also as a partial fulfillment of my requirements in Grade 12. I want this porfolio to

show not only my work but also what I learn to work with other people. I believe that

working together is a success.

During my work immersion. I do the simple job like filing the files

alphabetically. Sorting those files, photocopying using Xerox machine, greeting the

people who passing by like “Good morning Sir, good morning Ma’am.” and etc. They

don’t give us the laborious job.

This portfolio will give you an advance knowledge about Work immersion. As

my experience to work with other people. I found out that everyone is unique in their

own way like their experiences, perception, intelligence, creativity, genetics, personality

and many more. I learn a lot of advices came from the employees that “ you must know

how to deal with people or costumer, you must know the real meaning of the word

respect, you must know that not everyone can’t deal with your personality, you must

know your limitations.”I hope you appreciate the time I took for this porfolio and also I

hope my experience will gives you aspiration. I believce you will experience it too.

Sincerely,

SARVIA R. CAPULONG

History

The Dinalupihan Water District (DWD) was formed pursuant to Presidential

Decree No. 198 otherwise known as the “Local Water Utilities Act of 1973” and by the

Sangguniang Bayan of Dinalupihan Resolution No. 39, series of 1989 dated June 20,

1989 and led to the subsequent turnover of all the assets and the facilities run by the

Local Government Unit of Dinalupihan. Before its formation, there is no existing water

supply system in the locality, and the residents acquired water through available free-

flowing and privately owned deep wells. As a requirement in availing financial

assistance for the development of the water system, DWD filed the required pertinent

documents with the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) and on July 13, 1989,

a Conditional Certificate of Conformance no. 409 was issued. On March 12, 1992 all

water districts became Government Owned and Controlled Corporations by virtue of the

Supreme Court ruling of September 13, 1991. DWD is now under the supervision of the

Civil Service.After over two decades.

11
Observation and Insights

Observation and Insights can be a powerful learning tool for every

students like me. My observation is based on what I saw and heard. I observed them

based on their modes of behavior, strategies, activities, values and process step. These are

my observation and insight for all the partner institution where I’ve been worked:

 The staff of every institution are diligent and they put so much effort for

completing the task given to them.

 The facilities are highly computerized. Most of the files and other information

are controlled by the computer. It makes work easier than ever.

 The strategies that they have are very organized and systematic.

 They treat the people politely; they know how to communicate properly.

 They don’t hesitate to share the experience about their work and give us a pieces

of advice. We share laugh and cracking jokes when its free time. We enjoyed the

work and also the companionship with them.

 The training program was simple to understand. You shall listen to their rules

and directions. They established routines to build familiarity and allow the

trainees to do it.

 They employed questioning techniques that encourage extended discourse and

foster higher-order thinking.

 Lack of clarity around what to do with different types of trash makes the people

feel helpless in how to participate in recycling program.

12
Overall Reflection and Self-Appraisal

“Experience is the most teacher of things”(Julius Ceasar). This quote

keep reminding me that I should be always grateful because I learn so much things once

in my life. I realize that having a work immersion was unforgettable experience and

really good start to experience how does it feel to be in work place. For the instance, I

was very blessed to have my work immersion in four different companies and

institutions especially the Dinalupihan Water District (DWD) and Bataan Peninsula

Medical Center (BPMC)

At first, I was really nervous to communicate with other people. I’m a

quiet person at first, I never really talk up around with the people to whom I’m not

comfortable with, unless we’re so close. I thought that the staff there was indignant but I

was wrong, they are so approachable and communicative, ready to talk with and to impart

the knowledge that they have about working and other staff. So far, my experience in

immersion was a pleasure and fun at the same time. I can say that it is also somewhat

boring because most of the time was wasted after I’ve done my task. Why? Because

there are four OJTs including me. We were that many so the things to do are also divided.

All you have to do is wait and be patient if there is something that is assigned to you. My

most memorable experience in work immersion is that, I give a try calling the health

insurance to get the approval number. Its kinda you are working in call center. I really

enjoyed it.

After the work immersion, I discerned some things that will really be

useful for my future. First, punctuality is very important because in this simple way,

13
you can show how serious you are to your future job, next would be

honesty and sincerity because when it comes to work place it’s actually has some way

on your decisions; it can gain loyalty. Then, consistency is especially important in work

place because it will lead you to patience and perseverance to the tasks that they’re going

to give you, as well as the times that you’re just waiting for the next task that will be

given to you. I believe that if you are persistent you will get it, if you are consistent you

will keep it. Don’t stress out yourself for your work, if it is not done yet, try to give a

break then continue it, life goes on ; breathe deeply, calm yourself because calm people

have better attitudes. Know your limitations because not all the people can deal with your

personality, be a genuine and true person because being like that will makes people

happy to you; Always have a positive mind because positivity is next to tranquility.

Surround yourself with a positive people because I believe that if you are always with

negative people who complain everything then you will also become a complainer and

see the world as negative as they do. Lastly don’t be afraid to say what you want to say

because your opinion is a matter for everyone.

To sum up it all, I learn so much things and experience what I haven’t

experience in my whole life. I learn how to deal with their behavior. I learn how to

budget my time. I learn to cooperate and my social life becomes wide because I’ve been

together with so much different kind of people. I am forever grateful for this experience

that I will treasure the most.
