Arborescence électrique:
• Initiation à partir d’un point de concentration de champ électrique (aspérité, arbre d’eau,
cavité, particule métallique, ..)
• Progression suivant un processus électrique et mécanique
• Fracture mécanique et création d’une cavité tubulaire (branche)
• Décharges partielles dans une branche
• Carbonisation des parois de la branche
• Augmentation de la pression
• Rupture mécanique et création d’une nouvelle branche
• Rupture finale lors qu’une branche court-circuit les deux électrodes

Arborescence électrique:
• Croissance très rapide par rapport à un arbres d’eau: heures ou jours plutôt
qu’années
• Difficile à détecter (petite taille, signal électrique très faible)
• Délais habituellement court entre l’initiation et la rupture finale
