ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION: Stroke is the leading cause of death in Indonesia. In addition, stroke
also causes disability that requires high costs. The last few decades experts are looking
for methods that are used quickly and precisely to determine the prognosis of acute
ischemic stroke. Damage to brain ischemia is affected by corpuscular and plasmatic
factors which result in cerebral perfusion. This can be evaluated by examining the
erythrocyte sedimentation rate (LED) which is an easy, fast method and is an indirect
projection of plasmatic factors. In the event of an increase in other levels of fibrinogen or
macroglobulin, causing erythrocytes to settle more quickly.
PURPOSE: This study aims to analyze LED value projections for clinical predictor of
acute ischemic patients
METHOD: this research using cross sectional analytical observation. The sample used
50 medical records of acute ischemic stroke patients, LED was measured at acute onset
and associated with the National Institute of Health stroke Scale (NIHSS) on day 7 which
was analyzed by Spearman correlation test.
RESULTS: it’s showed 56% ischemic stroke patients have an increase in LED
accompanied by an increase in the NIHSS score. The results of the Spearman test
produced a value of r = 0.642 (p <0.001) which showed that there was a correlation
between the value of LED and NIHSS with moderate correlation. In addition, the higher
the LED value does not show clinical improvement in patients with acute ischemic
stroke, due to severe neurological deficits.
CONCLUSION: the results of the LED value analysis can be used as a projection to
measure the clinical repair of acute ischemic stroke patients.

Keywords: ischemic stroke, blood sedimentation rate, clinical predictor.
