Tenses is most important aspect in the grammar of all languages. It helps to define whether an
event has happened, happening or going to happen in the future.
(काल किसी भी भाषा के सभी व्याकरण में सबसे महत्वपर्णू है ।)
Tenses is totally dependent on verb with the time-frame. In Hindi grammar, the sentence is
modified with the added supporting verb.
(काल समय के साथ क्रिया पर पूरी तरह से निर्भर है । हिंदी व्याकरण मे वाक्य को जोङने के लिए
supporting verb के साथ संशोधित किया जाता है ।)
For getting the proper tenses the form of verb is divided into two aspects:
सही काल को पाने के लिए क्रिया के रूप को दर्शाने दो पहलू मे बॉटा गया है ।
1) Present Tense (वर्तमान काल): In this, tense may refer to an action that is currently happening.
(इस काल मे क्रिया वर्तमान में रहा हैं, उसे वर्तमान काल कहते है ।)
जैसे (Examples):
वह कूद रहा है । (Vah Kud raha hai) - He is jumping.
राम दौङ रहा है । (Ram daud raha hai) - Ram is running.
मै बाजार जा रही हूॅ। (Mai bazaar ja rhi hu) - I am going to market.
तुम नाच रही हो। (Tum naach rhi ho) - You are dancing.
2) Past Tense (भूत काल): In this, tense may refer to an action that is already completed.
(इस काल मे क्रिया समाप्त हो चक
ु ा हैं, उसे भत
ू काल कहते है ।)
जैसे (Examples):
वह कूद रहा था। (Vah kud raha tha) - He was jumping.
राम दौङ रहा था। (Ram daud raha tha) - Ram was running
मै बाजार गई थी। (Mai Bazaar gyi thi) - I went to market.
तुम नाच रही थी। (Tum naach rhi thi) - You were dancing.
3) Future Tense (भविष्यकाल): In this, tense expresses a future event, action or future state of
being.
इस काल मे क्रिया होने वाला हैं, उसे भविष्यकाल कहते है ।
In future tense we use "will (होगा)"
जैसे (Examples):
वह कूदे गा। (Vah kudega) - He will jump.
राम दौङेगा। (Ram Daudega) - Ram will run.
मै बाजार जाऊॅगी। (Mai bazaar jaungi) - I will go to market.

Sarvnam(Pronoun)(सर्वनाम)

3: Pronouns.
First, a basic table of the Hindi personal pronouns, then some explanation.
Personal pronouns
SINGULAR PLURAL
(हिंदी) Hindi English (हिंदी) Hindi English
मैं (main, mai~) I हम (hum) We
तु (tu) You (intimate) तम
ु (tum) You (Informal)
आप (aap) You (Formal)
यह (yah/yeh) He (close)/She(close)/It (close)/This ये (ye) They (close)/These
वह (vah/voh) He (far)/She (far)/It (far)/That वे (ve) They (far)/Those
तु (tu) is used only for very close person, e.g. one's girlfriend/boyfriend. तुम (tum) is probably
the most used word for "you" (singular) in Hindi. It can be used with everybody, unless one
wants to be polite, in which case one says "aap" (आप). NB. When using "aap" (आप) or "tum"
(तुम) conjugate the verb for plural. Well, you don't know how to conjugate at this point, but do
remember this rule! When meeting someone for the first time, politeness is appropriate, so it is
better to use "aap" for "you."
possesive pronouns
SINGULAR PLURAL
(हिंदी) Hindi English (हिंदी) Hindi English
मेरा (mera) My हमारा (hamara) Our
आपका (aapka) Your
तुम्हारा (tumhara - /tum/) Your उनका (unka) Their
उसका (uska) His/Hers
है = is ( hai /hae/ )
मेरा नाम Peter है = My name is Peter. (Mera naam Peter hai. नाम (naam) means "name").
NB: The verb in Hindi is always placed at the end of the sentence, a feature which many Asian
languages share. (Hindi is SOV, i.e Subject-Object-Verb, language). Thus, for "My name is
Peter" we say, "My name Peter is." More examples:
उसका नाम Peter है . = His name is Peter. (Uska naam Peter hai.)
यह पानी है . = This is water. (Yah pani hai.)
यह घर है . = This is a house. (Yeh ghar hai.)
That's enough material for this lesson I think. The next lesson will address genders and verbs.
Tu hie rey! Tum hie rey! Dil hie toh hai! Tum pe aa hie gaya!”
“Only you ! Only you! It is just my heart after all ! It has fallen for you alone!”
