Intelligence to Make
Better Decisions

Information drives better decision-making. Bitam provides the capabilities you

need to make more informed business decisions, whether you are an executive
measuring the health of the overall business or a line-manager analyzing
inefficiencies within your production line.

Organizations have access to the information they need, when they need it, to
monitor the progress of their business with Artus, part of Bitam’s fully integrated
business intelligence platform.

Artus provides easy to use dashboards and analysis to organizations of any size,
where typically this capability has been cost prohibitive or too complex to maintain
for mid-size and smaller businesses.

Unlike other business intelligence solutions, Artus provides the capability of both
management dashboards and ad-hoc analysis within one product, providing a single
solution for all of your business intelligence needs. With Artus, business users can
easily access and analyze data, and use that data to make more effective business
decisions. Artus is specifically built for the business user and is easy to use with
minimal training, allowing you to focus on the “why” of a business question.

Monitor Key Performance Indicators with Dashboards

Like the gauges in a car displaying speed, fuel level, and mileage, dashboards convey vast amounts of key
information in a consolidated and easy to understand graphical display. With a simple glance a sales executive
can track sales performance by region, sales to quota performance, or even his best performing sales
representatives. Dashboards can be used to visualize information for a specific period of time, or to track a key
performance over time, allowing organizations to identify trends in the data.

View all
pertinentinformation at a
glance, allowing you to
focus on areas that
require your attention.

Since key performance indicators are defined at the data level, organizations benefit from a standard definition
of the most critical elements of their business, ensuring that everyone is working from the same page. In
addition, Artus dashboards are flexible and completely customizable to meet an organization’s or individual’s
specific information requirements. For example, a VP of Sales may see the total sales of the organization, but a
regional sales manager may only view the sale detail for his region.

Artus utilizes a library of visualization components, such as speedometers, charts, maps, and progress bars to
display information in a way that quickly indicates performance at a glance. All Artus components are live
components, connected directly to the underlying data, giving you confidence that you are seeing the most
current data that resides within your organization.

Dashboards leverage a variety of export options for display in other applications. Since all dashboards use a zero
footprint, web-interface, any of the Artus dashboard components can be embedded directly within any web or
Windows interface. In addition, dashboards can be exported to PDF format for printing, MS Office
applications, or strung together using our binder management capability to create a collated report for regular
briefings such as board meetings or departmental reviews.

Drill into Underlying Detail for Analysis

Artus allows non-technical users to ask spontaneous and iterative business questions of their data without
reliance on the IT department to build or modify a report. A standard weekly sales report will often generate
additional questions such as; “Why did my sales drop 10%?”, “Which product lines or regions are
underperforming?” Typically requests for different views of the data or up-to-date information result in report
backlog, user frustration, or a delayed response to an issue that requires immediate attention.
With Artus, whether coming from a dashboard or beginning an analysis from scratch, business users can easily
access and analyze information without having to understand the complexities of the underlying data structure.
Through the use of metadata layer, Artus translates complex data into familiar business terms, allowing the user
analyze information using terms such as revenue, product, margin, etc. As a user views information, they can
quickly investigate questions by drilling down on any area of interest to understand trends, root causes, and
anomalies.

Within Artus, users can

easily drill into data,
turn information into
charts, add columns, and
create user-defined
variables.

Unlike static reports, Artus provides many options for the user to interact with the data. Users can easily turn
tables in charts, add custom variables and calculations, collaborate with other departments and groups through
the use of discussion threads, or export the information to common formats such as PDF or Excel for easy
sharing across the organization.

Predictive Analysis and What-If Modeling

In addition to analyzing trends over time, Artus provides advanced statistical and financial functions to do
predictive analysis on the future behavior of key performance indicators. Leveraging a library of pre-defined
statistical techniques, such as Holt’s Method for exponential smoothing based on a previous period of time,
organizations can use past performance to predict future results, and adjust a strategy or plan before problems
arise.

Management by Exception

Artus leverage a rules and alerts engine to automatically notify users of information that requires immediate
attention. Users can define thresholds and targets for key performance indicators, such as 10% overstock for a
specific product line, or DSO greater than 65 days. With alerts wrapped around your key performance
indicators, you can prioritize your activities and be confident knowing that Artus will notify you either through
visualization techniques, email, or other wireless devices.
Common Platform

All Bitam products, including Artus, are built with one idea in mind – deliver robust end user capability on a
single infrastructure for IT to support. Quick to implement and easy to maintain, the Bitam infrastructure
provides a single place to manage data connectivity, user management, repository features, security and system
performance tools.

Artus has a zero-footprint web-based interface and integrates with MS Office Applications, Pocket PC, Palm,
and can be embedded within any web or Windows application. Artus provides connectivity to all of the
commonly used database and OLAP server platforms such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Informix, Redbrick,
Access, MS Analysis Server, Hyperion Essbase and SAP/BW.
