In this article, Borra discusses techniques on how to address obesity. She goes into detail

about her methods and the results of each. As well, Borra tells readers how they can apply her

methods to their life. Borra explains that parents need to help their kids find a healthy

relationship between what they eat, how much, and how much time they spend working out. She

states that unhealthy habits need to be targeted, that this behavior can affect their attitude. This

source is significant to my capstone because it teaches me how to address obesity from different

angles. It taught me that a kids eating habits are a reflection of their parents. In my capstone, I

want to make new meals for my parents and siblings, changing the way we all eat. My goal is to

change our diets for good. This source taught me that kids need a direct message about weight

and dieting in order to change, this means my capstone is needed.

In this article, Lavizzo informs readers that obesity is a serious issue and the number of

obese people will continue to raise but can be prevented. Lavizzo cited the editors of TIME to

explain that action needs to be taken at a young age to target bad habits. Lavizzo also gives

recognition to “Students Run L.A” to support her idea of giving kids a reason and opportunity to

change their behavior. Ultimately, she explains how obesity will cause several health problems

that more and more people will be affected by. Lavizzo has a serious tone when explaining how

damaging this lifestyle could be but brings hope by sharing ways to prevent obesity. This

information is important to my capstone for two main reasons. One being, she explains how

obesity plays a crucial part to your health, and two, she tells her readers ways to prevent it early

on. This information gives credibility to the importance of my entire capstone. It proves obesity

is a major problem, but can be helped. It inspires me to teach kids the importance of being active

and eating right.

to find active alternatives for ways kids are spending their down time. They can dance during

commercials, jump rope with their friends and learn how to skateboard. This article is important

to my research because it lists fun activities I can introduce to my family and younger kids in

general. I learned that there are three main branches of exercise kids need, and I will incorporate

that into what I will teach my sisters and other young kids.

In this article, Tamondong argues that kids shouldn’t be held responsible for their

exercise and diet, rather it should be a family duty. Tamondong uses multiple studies to prove

that obesity starts at a young age and follows you to your adult life. He also uses the ‘Live it up’

project to share the many repercussions of being overweight and how parents can guide their

kids to a healthy life. Overall, Tamondong talks about the severity of the subject and the health

risks that will follow someone through their life. He explains it’s a family matter, parents should

work with their kids to be healthy. This is significant to my project because it gives meaning to

my goal. My purpose is to share fitness with children and introduce new meals to my family.

This article validates my motive by sharing the numerous health risks and the impact it could

have on a family.
