The Business Centre is open 24 hours a day in the lobby for
your convenience. High-speed internet access, printers
and stationary are available. In addition we can also arrange

The gymnasium is located on Park level.
Please bring your room key to access the gymnasium.

SWIMMING POOL
The hotel pool is located on Park level through the gym
and is open from 8am until 9pm. Please bring your room
key for access to the pool area. Towels are available in the
pool area for your convenience. Please note that there is
NO lifeguard in attendance and all children under the age
of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. The pool area is
closed during winter months.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
STANDBY ALARM
In the case of a possible emergency, a ‘beep-beep’ tone
will be audible at regular intervals throughout the hotel.
Please remain calm and await further instructions from
the Emergency Control Staff. Instructions are provided
over the Hotel Public Address System.
EVACUATION ALARM
This is a loud and continuous ‘whoop-whoop’ tone heard
throughout the Hotel. Immediately and calmly make your
way to the closest fire exit as indicated on the floor plan
on the back of your room door. Make your way to the
bottom of the fire stairs where a member of staff will
provide further instructions.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION
The following basic safety guidelines should be observed
in case of fire.
– Do not use elevators.
– If heat is evident, press wet towels or anything else
wet under the door.
– Stay close to the floor if smoke is encountered.

INNKEEPERS’ LIABILITY ACT 1902

YOUR ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO THE
FOLLOWING:
No innkeeper shall be liable to make good to any guest or
lodger of such innkeeper any loss of or injury to goods or
property bought to his inn, not being a horse or other live
animal or any gear appertaining thereto or any carriage,
to a greater amount than the sum of $40, except in the
following cases:
(a) where such goods or property have been stolen, lost
or injured through the act, default or neglect of such
innkeeper or any servant in his employ;
or
(b) when such goods or property have been deposited
expressly for safe custody with such innkeeper.
Provided always that in the case of such deposit such
innkeeper if he thinks fit may require as a condition to his
liability that such goods or property shall be deposited
in a box or other receptacle, fastened and sealed by the
person depositing the same.
NOTICE ABOUT LOSS OF GUEST’S PROPERTY:
The civil law (wrongs) Act of 2002, part 7.1 changes the
common law about innkeeper’s liability.
Under the Act, an accommodation provider may be liable
to make good any loss of a guest’s property in certain
circumstances even though the loss is not caused by the
fault of the accommodation provider or the provider’s agent.
The strict liability of the accommodation provider under
the Act –
– applies
 only to a guest of the accommodation provider
on a day when an accommodation unit is provided for
the use of the guest,
 limited to the limitation amount for each
– is
accommodation unit provided for the use of the guest
on the day, unless the guest’s property was placed in safe
custody facilities,
– does
 not cover motor vehicles and things owned by
the guest left in or on motor vehicles.
Note: Words appearing in bold italics have a special
meaning under the civil law (wrongs) Act 2002.

REDSALT RESTAURANT BODY AND SOUL MENU

Redsalt restaurant brings the finest ingredients and premium
quality cuts of beef together to provide the best steaks
and grills in Canberra.
With an extensive a la carte menu, Redsalt offers the
perfect dining experience.
Redsalt is located on Park level of the hotel and is open
for breakfast Monday to Friday from 6.30am – 10.00am
and on Saturday and Sunday from 6.30am – 11.00am.
Lunch is served from 12.00pm to 2.30pm and dinner

BINARA ONE BAR

Contemporary and stylish is the best way to describe

The hotel’s lounge bar is located adjacent to Reception

AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF SPORT
Established in 1981, the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) is
a pre-eminent elite sports training institution in Australia
with world class facilities and support services.
You can tour the AIS and explore first-hand where many
of Australia’s sporting champions are created.
Located only 9km (15 minutes drive) from the hotel, the
Institute is a popular tourist destination. With an elite
athlete as your guide, you’ll discover the world-class
facilities of the AIS and have the opportunity to rub
shoulders with some of our nation’s up-coming sports
stars. Tours run daily and take 90 minutes. They include
Sportex, an interactive exhibit where you can test your
sporting skills and even challenge your guide to wheelchair
basketball, soccer penalty shoot-out, virtual rowing and
much more. Make sure you see the Heroes and Legends
exhibition that showcases memorabilia from sporting greats
such as Rod Laver, Sir Donald Bradman and many more. Or,
re-visit the Sydney 2000 or Athens 2004 Olympic Games -
these exhibitions showcase memorabilia from our current
sporting champs.

CANBERRA DEEP SPACE
COMMUNICATION COMPLEX
Also located at Tidbinbilla is the Canberra Space Centre
which is located on the grounds of the Canberra Deep
Space Communication Complex (CDSCC). This is about
35kms southwest of Canberra. For 40 years, the Canberra
Deep Space Communication Complex has played a key
role in the exploration of space as part of NASA’s Deep
Space Network. Visitors can learn about the amazing work
being done by Australians, and the incredible missions that
are revealing the secrets of the universe. The Centre offers
visitors the chance to learn about the role that Australia
plays in the exploration of space.

CANBERRA’S NATIONAL ZOO & AQUARIUM
Located on eight hectares just 8km (10 minutes) from the
heart of the Nations capital is Australia’s only combined
Zoo and Aquarium.
Visitors will be able to view animals in some of the
largest and most natural enclosure in Australia. Exhibits
include giraffes, zebras, lions, tigers, red pandas, sun bears,
cheetahs, monkeys and European brown bears, as well as
Australia’s only tigons (tiger/lion hybrid). There is a large
Australian native animal display of koalas, kangaroos,
wallabies, dingoes, wombats and wild birds to name a few.
Reptiles include snakes and lizards whilst there are both
fresh and salt water fish on display.
Tours are a touching experience. The Meet a Cheetah
experience allows visitors to spend 15 minutes with a
cheetah for a most moving experience. For the ultimate
experience you can “Walk on the Wild Side”, by spending
a whole day with one of the Zoo Keepers. Here you will
experience the life of a keeper where you may help weigh
a tiger, clean the teeth of a bear, play games with the
cheetah and have lunch with the giraffes. Bookings are
essential for all tours.

one of Canberra’s landmark attractions, a charming and

NATIONAL GALLERY OF AUSTRALIA
Since opening in 1982, the National Gallery of Australia has
become a distinguished part of Australian cultural life and
displays some of the art world’s finest works to the public.
The National Gallery of Australia collects and exhibits
works of art from many cultures and periods, with a
special emphasis on art of the twentieth century. Paintings
and sculpture, prints, drawings and photographs, textiles
and decorative arts from Australia, Asia, Europe and the
Americas are on display, along with changing exhibitions
both large and small.
The work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists is
an important feature of the National Gallery’s collection
and the indigenous collection is the largest in the world.
The Gallery is situated on Lake Burley Griffin, about 3km

The National Library is one of Canberra’s landmark
buildings, its lakeside location a superb marriage of
building and site. Opened in 1967, the Library houses more

The quality and extent of its collections are on show
through comprehensive exhibitions and display programs.
Regular tours, special events and lectures are all open to

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AUSTRALIA
Opened in 2001, the National Museum is the first in
the country devoted to the stories of Australia and
Australians, exploring the key issues, events and people
that have shaped and influenced our nation.
The National Museum holds a number of significant
collections relating to each of its three primary subject
areas: land, nation and people. Significant elements include
a collection of 80,000 stone tools and Australia’s largest
collection of bark paintings, comprising 1,600 works by
numerous artists, spanning two centuries and the width
and breadth of Australia.
Excitement and innovation are not just limited to the
exhibits - the colourful building itself is an architectural
landmark, one which complements the beautiful
surroundings of Canberra’s Acton Peninsula.
The jigsaw-like building wraps around the central Garden
of Australian Dreams, a remarkable garden and cultural
arena. If you want to make the most of your visit to the
National Museum of Australia or you have limited time,
guided tours are ideal.
These run on a regular basis daily. The museum is 2.5km

Home to Federal Parliament for more than sixty years,

PARLIAMENT HOUSE
Australia’s Parliament House was opened on 9 May 1988
by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Designed by architect
Romaldo Giurgola, the building is set on a 32 hectare site
on Capital Hill. The 81 metre high flagpole rising above the
building is a focal point of Canberra.
Australia’s Parliament House is a symbol of national
unity and commitment to the democratic process of
government. The building, its integrated works of art,
craft and furnishings reflect the history, cultural diversity,
development and aspirations of Australia. Together they
project the image and spirit of the nation.
Every year nearly 1 million tourists from all over the world
visit the building and take the opportunity to sit in the
public galleries of the House of Representatives and the
Senate and watch the Australian Parliament at work.
Visitors can join free guided tours which commence
at 9am and follow every 30 minutes, with the last tour
starting at 4pm. When Parliament is sitting, short
20 minute tours are conducted with longer tours
of 45 minutes when Parliament is not sitting.
Question Time takes place at 2pm on sitting days.

The National Science and Technology Centre is an
interactive and hands-on experience making science
fun for young and old. Face your fear on Side Show, a
6 metre free fall, test your sporting skills in Sports Quest,
experience an earthquake, discover the physics of music
in Strike A Chord and ride a simulated rollercoaster.
Mini Q - fun for children up to 6 years old, will keep the
little scientists busy while developing their motor and
sensory skills.
Questacon is suitable for people of all ages and is a great
way for the family to learn together. We recommend you
allow at least 2 hours to wander the exhibitions and take
in a spectacular science show.

ROYAL AUSTRALIAN MINT
The Royal Australian Mint, was opened in February 1965.
The Mint was commissioned to produce Australia’s decimal
coinage, which was to be introduced into circulation on
14th February 1966.
The Royal Australian Mint holds a place in history as the
first mint in Australia not to be a branch of the Royal Mint,
London.
Since opening in 1965 the Mint has produced over 11 billion
circulating coins and has the capacity to produce over 2
million coins per day, or over 6 hundred million coins
per year.
The Royal Australian Mint has struck coins for a number
of South Pacific nations. Export coins were first struck in
1969 for New Zealand and, since then, coins have been
produced for Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Western Samoa,
Cook Islands, Fiji, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh,
Israel and Tokelau.
The production floor can be seen from an elevated gallery.
Coins from the earliest days of Australian settlement to
modern decimal currency are displayed.
The Mint also manufactures medals, medallions, seals
and tokens for private and public sectors and sporting
and tourism groups, both nationally and internationally.
Examples of these are The Order of Australia, Pacific
Conference Games Medallions, Sydney Monorail token
and Conrad Jupiter’s Casino tokens. Tours run every
30 minutes.
TELSTRA TOWER (BLACK MOUNTAIN TOWER)
Telstra Tower rises 195 metres above the summit of Black
Mountain, providing 360 degree views of Canberra and
the countryside around it. The tower has a viewing gallery,
which can be accessed for a small admission fee.
The tower has a functional role in providing state-of-
the-art telecommunications facilities for Canberra. The
viewing area boasts both an internal and two external level
platforms as well as a café and souvenir shop. Located at
the top of the tower is Canberra’s only revolving restaurant
providing spectacular views of the city.
THE AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL
The Australian War Memorial has 20 galleries and
constantly changing special exhibitions.
It has been long considered to be one of the world’s
best war museums and has some amazing exhibitions.
These include the aircraft and tank displays.
The Memorial has undergone a multi-million dollar face-lift
in recent years, culminating with the opening of ANZAC
Hall. In 2000, 2001 & 2003, the Memorial was named the
ACT’s and Australia’s Best Major Tourist Attraction. It’s a
“must-see” during a visit to Canberra. Free guided tours
of the galleries are conducted daily by the Memorial’s
Voluntary Guides. Tours leave from the Orientation Gallery
at 10am, 10.30am, 11am, 1pm, 1.30pm and 2pm.
TIDBINBILLA NATURE RESERVE
Nestled between the Tidbinbilla and Gibraltar Ranges,
Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve is a 40 minute drive from the
Canberra City centre along Tourist Drive 5, and 60 minutes
from the hotel. Visitors to Tidbinbilla will experience a
valley rich in indigenous and natural heritage and discover
many unique plants and animals.
The Tidbinbilla Visitor Centre provides a great introduction
to the reserve. The friendly staff will provide you with
up-to-date information about ranger guided walks
and activities. Enjoy the hands on displays such as the
interactive computer program on Tidbinbilla’s bird species
and look at the live animal displays.

The best Sichuan Cuisine in Canberra!
The Canberra Red Chilli is a part of the group that has been feeding
people in Brisbane and Sydney for years. The ‘‘chain’’ restaurant is usually
bad news for the eater, but in this case the place seems to have a
personality of its own, and most importantly good food at decent prices.
As soon as you walk in Red Chilli’s Alinga Street front door, you get a
good idea of what your in for. Great smells fill the place.
Tables are glass topped, giving a clear view of the lacquered traditional
tables and chairs beneath - and the whole place has a shiny, Chinese
look, with most of the fittings imported to create an authentic
environment.
This is no Westernised Chinese. Little ‘‘Asian fusion’’ is going on here
either, with the dishes all hailing from the great southwestern Chinese
region of Sichuan, distinguished by its use of chilli and the tongue
numbing Sichuan peppercorn.

Opened in early 2009, Blu Ginger serves quality North Indian food in
the heart of the CBD. This restaurant certainly has a big city feel, with a
well appointed 180 seat dining room enhanced by polished floors, dark
timber furnishings and towering polished concrete frames that attract the
eye upwards and give a feeling of openness. From the kitchen, expect to
find a range of contemporary yet authentic dishes that confirm this is no
mum-and-dad ethnic diner. Starters may be Tandoori quail or marinated
ling fillets and our classic curries are refined and flavoursome and are
given a heat rating on the menu.
Ever popular Rogan Josh has a rich gravy and comes with fresh tomatoes
and coriander, a Sagwala is made with lamb, beef or chicken and cooked
with a spinach puree and cream. Seafood is represented by wok tossed
prawns marinated in ginger and garlic; or a hot and spicy Sri Lankan fish
curry.
A range of specials feature on the blackboard and change weekly. Desserts are

A: A short walk from the hotel, the National Convention
Centre car park on Constitution Avenue offers parking
at the following rates:
Weekdays: $16 for 24 hours / $5 for under 2 hours /
$8 for 4 hours / $2 flat rate after 5pm
Weekends & Public holidays: $2 flat rate throughout

There is also an open public car park opposite of the
National Convention Centre. Charges vary by the hour.
Q: DO YOU PROVIDE COIN-OPERATED
LAUNDRY FACILITIES?
A: Unfortunately, we do not offer coin-operated laundry
facilities. However, we do offer an in-house laundry
service, which includes dry cleaning and regular
washing services with same day, next day or express
service delivery. Please fill out the laundry service list
provided in your room, attach it to your laundry bag
and contact housekeeping or reception for collection.
The nearest coin-operated Laundromat is in Ainslie

A: Binara One is located to the right hand side of
Reception on Level 1. The bar is open from 4pm until
late everyday. Join us for our Happy Hour from 5pm till
6pm everyday with specials on a range of tap beers,
house spirits and wines.

LOCATED?
A: • Pods 1 & 2 are located directly behind Reception on
level 1.
• Aquila is located on level 1, to the right when you are
facing the lifts.
• Glebe room & The Crossings rooms are located on
the park level of the hotel.

Q: WHERE IS THE BUSINESS CENTRE?

A: The Business Centre is located on Level 1, to the left
hand side of the reception desk. Complimentary
internet access and printing facilities are available for
24 hours. Please contact reception for any assistance.

Q: WHERE ARE THE GYM AND POOL

LOCATED?
A: The gym is located on the Park level and is open from
6am till 9pm everyday. The pool can be accessed
through the gym and towels are available at the gym.
Alternatively, Canberra Olympic Pool is open daily and is
a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It also has a health club.
The opening hours vary and our Concierge can arrange a
timetable for you. If you like to exercise outdoors, Lake
Burley Griffin is located near the hotel with running and
cycling paths by the lake.
