What is 1 DLSU SHS Research Congress?
The 1st De La Salle University Senior High School Congress aims to provide an opportunity for the
convergence of ideas and talents of emerging researchers, artists, and entrepreneurs of today’s generation.
This event will showcase the ideas, researches, products, and performances that emanated from the
capstone projects of Senior High School students. It is also aligned with De La Salle University’s vision-
mission as harbinger in the promotion of research in the country.
The congress is a convergence of research diversity from the different disciplines and field of
knowledge explored in the Senior High School and a display of the students’ pursuit to investigate the world
around them. It is an event that will highlight the coming together of various students’ outputs that address
the challenges faced by our contemporary society.
Sessions, exhibits, performances, and a bazaar at the 1st DLSU Senior High School Congress will
showcase the capstone projects of Senior High students from various schools. Such events shall cover the
following tracks and specific strands:

Program Highlights
A. Paper Presentation
The paper presentation will showcase research concepts, collaborations, innovations, and products
of various strands and tracks through an interactive oral presentation.
B. Poster Presentation
The Business Concepts Bazaar of the ABM Strand will provide an opportunity for student
participants to demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills and showcase their innovative products. The
business concepts are supported by a sound business plan that promotes product sustainability and
social responsibility.
D. Creative Output
The Creative Output presentation will showcase evocative masterpieces of the student participants
through art exhibitions and performances that are products of a diligent research process. The
creations reflect insightful messages through art expressions that will radiate positivity and
empowerment to address societal concerns.
E. Teacher Training
This teaching development program is a part wherein teachers get an opportunity to immerse into
a pedagogical improvement discourse.

Registration Procedures
1. The 1st DLSU SHS Research Congress is open to all Senior High School students of the current
Academic Year 2018-2019. Schools all over the country offering Senior High School are invited
to participate in this nationwide convergence of ideas.
2. Participating schools may send Senior High School students as participant or presenter in any of
the following events: paper presentation, poster presentation, business concepts bazaar, and
creative output performance, and exhibition. Likewise, participating schools are expected to
send faculty as adult companion to their student participants.
3. There will be a blind selection process for all abstracts and outputs intended to be presented
and/or exhibited during the congress. Student presenters whose abstracts are accepted in the
research congress are automatically considered as participants. Nonetheless, schools may still
send students as research participants who may not necessarily be presenters during the
congress.
4. An individual registration fee shall be charged for every participant/s of the congress, including
the faculty accompanying the students.
5. All participating schools must accomplish the School Registration Form (see Appendix 1) and
pay the corresponding registration fee upon submission of the registration application.
Below is the registration period and non-refundable fees for the research congress:
Early Bird Registration December 19, 2018 - January 10, 2019 Php 500.00
7. All participants for the research congress must accomplish and submit the required forms and
attachments as stipulated per event categories. Only entries from paid participants will be
considered for evaluation.
8. Participants whose entries are not accepted for presentation for various categories will be
considered as participants in the congress.
9. Only the first 800 paid participants will be accommodated for the event.

10. The following are the requirements for the research congress registration:
- accomplished School Registration Form (Appendix 1)
- scanned or photocopied of school ID of the participant
- scanned copy or photocopied of the deposit slip with the following details:

14. The Official Receipt of the registered participants shall be given on the second day of the event
and may be claimed at the registration area.
Event Categories
PAPER PRESENTATION
Participants who are interested to join the paper presentation may submit their extended abstracts which
may be under or related to the following themes:
1. All participants who wish to be considered for paper presentation are required to submit their
extended abstracts.
3. The following are the required attachments of the extended abstracts for the paper presentation.
4. The format of the extended abstract for various disciplines may be found in the URLs below:
a. Must contain name/s of author/s, specified strand of the author/s, affiliation and email address/es
of the author/s.
b. Number of words for the whole extended abstract must not exceed 1,500 words
c. Use Century font typed in double column letter-sized page
d. Document must be converted to Portable Document Format (.pdf)
e. The abstract section must be in text only, without graphs, pictures, nor tables.

B. Presentation Guidelines
1. All participants whose entries are accepted for the paper presentation should submit a Powerpoint
presentation on or before March 1, 2019 to shsresearchcongress@dlsu.edu.ph.
2. Each presentation shall not exceed 15 minutes. Additional 10 minutes shall be allotted for question and
answer.
3. A maximum of two (2) authors shall be allowed to present the paper. Nonetheless, other members may
participate during the question and answer.
4. All presenters shall be at the venue of presentation at least 20 minutes before their presentation.
5. Presenters shall wear smart casual attire for their presentation.

POSTER PRESENTATION
Participants who are interested to join the poster presentation may submit their extended abstracts which
may be under or related to the following themes:

B. Submission of Posters
1. Submission of the Business Plan is required to all groups who intends to showcase their
business concepts in the bazaar.

B. Bazaar Guidelines
1. All participants whose business concepts are accepted during the evaluation process may
participate in the bazaar.
2. A booth will be assigned by the organizers to the participants of the bazaar where they can
design and display their products and/or services during the congress’ business hours.
3. A list of furniture, equipment, gadgets and tools that will be used during the bazaar shall be
submitted for accounting and checking to The Secretariat.
4. The booth must be staffed at all times during business hours only by the business
members.
5. Specifications for the assigned booth shall be released together with the Notification of the
Acceptance. All bazaar participants are expected to follow the set guidelines for the booth.
6. Bazaar participants are also expected to present their business plan on the second day of
the congress.
7. Each bazaar presenter must submit a 30-second promotional video of the business in .mp4
or .avi file.
8. Each presentation must not exceed 15 minutes. An additional 10 minutes will be allotted
for question and answer.
9. A maximum of two business members will be allowed to present the business concept.
Nonetheless, other members may take part during the question and answer.
10. All presenters should be at the venue of presentation 20 minutes before their session.
12. Accepted business concepts must submit the following requirements on or before March 1,
2019 to shsresearchcongress@dlsu.edu.ph.
Creative Output
Participants who are interested to join the creative output presentation must accomplish Artwork
Exhibition and Performance Recommendation Form (See Appendix 5) and submit the Artwork Concept
Plan. Entries may be under or related to the following art categories specified below:
1. All entries for creative output performance and exhibition shall be submitted with the following:
Design and Applied Arts Game Design with Game Art PDF copy of the game design and
Fashion Design game art
PDF copy of the sketch for fashion
design

3. A collection of creative outputs is allowed. However, if an output has a different objective and
concept, it will be considered as a new entry, thus requiring a separate Art Concept Plan.
6. All accepted proposal must bring their artworks during the set-up day schedule on the opening of
the congress on March 14, 2019.
B. Exhibition Guidelines
1. Only accepted Artwork Concept Plans under the art categories visual arts, literature, architecture,
and design and applied arts can participate in the art exhibition.
2. Visual arts exhibition will be provided with a panel board, while sculptures will be provided with a
table to serve as a pedestal, if necessary.
3. Literary exhibits are expected to have a poster depicting their literary work, which has to be color
printed in an A3 sized paper or board. A table and a poster standee will be provided. Supplemental
multi-media tools to visually present their outputs may be used. No panel boards shall be provided
for the literary exhibit.
4. Only panel boards, tables, and poster standees shall be provided by the organizers. The
specifications of these equipment for exhibition shall be released together with the Notification of
Acceptance.
5. The student-artist/s shall stay with their artwork during the exhibition period to entertain
questions and inquiries about their work.
6. Setting-up of the exhibit is on March 14, 2019, from 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM at the exhibit area.
CONVERGENCE OF RESEARCH DIVERSITY
1. Only accepted Artwork Concept Plans under the categories of theater arts, dance, music and film
may participate in the performance presentation.
2. A program showcasing artworks from theater arts, dance and music shall be held in an auditorium.
Blocking and technical rehearsals are scheduled on March 14, 2019 from 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM.
3. Only a 15-minute excerpt of a one-act play shall be staged during the performance. The student-
writer or director of the play will be given five (5) minutes to briefly talk about the output after the
performance.
4. The number of dance and musical performances that student-artists can showcase during the
program shall be limited to repertoire/s accepted by the organizers.
5. Accepted short films will be showcased in a viewing room. There will be a scheduled viewing time
for every accepted film entry. Film viewing will begin on March 14, 2019, 12:30 PM.
6. Film makers will be given a maximum of two (2) minutes before and after the viewing to introduce
and answer inquiries about their work.
7. All performances shall be required to submit a promotional poster color printed in A3 sized paper
or board.
8. A detailed list of props, stage set, musical instruments, and gadgets that will be used by the
performers must be submitted for accounting and checking. For safety reasons, it is highly advised
to minimize the use of set and props.
9. A list of performers for the one-act play, dance, and musical repertoires must likewise be
submitted. All performers must be registered as participants of the congress.
10. The program for the theatrical, dance, and musical performances is scheduled on March 15, 2019.
11. Participants whose Artwork Concept Plans are accepted for exhibition must submit the following
requirements on or before March 1, 2019 to shsresearchcongress@dlsu.edu.ph.
