HCA Healthcare/HealthONE’s Swedish Medical Center Hosts Double Open

House

Surgery takes center stage with expansion of the hospital’s pre-procedure unit and new
robotic-assisted surgical suites.

Englewood, CO, February 14, 2019 --(PR.com)-- HCA Healthcare/HealthONE's Swedish Medical
Center invites the community to see its newly expanded pre-procedure unit and renovated Surgical
Robotics Institute at a special double open house. The event will take place Friday, February 15 from
4-6pm.

Two ribbon cutting ceremonies are planned, beginning with the renovated pre-procedure unit, formerly
pre-admission testing clinic, which helps prepare patients for surgeries. The unit now includes an
additional six exam rooms, a welcoming waiting area, and new work space for staff.

Construction on the pre-procedure unit began in the fall of 2018 and adds much needed space for
incoming patients. “The pre-procedure unit welcomes patients to come in days before their surgery and
meet with our staff to complete any needed tests or screenings,” said Shanna Owen, director of the post
anesthesia care unit at Swedish Medical Center. “Our goal with this expansion is to provide the best
experience for every patient by streamlining the entire pre-procedure process.”

After the initial ribbon cutting ceremony, visitors will be directed to the fifth floor of the hospital for a
second ribbon cutting and tour of the Surgical Robotics Institute and its completely renovated and
enlarged pre-operative and post-operative areas as well as new state of the art surgical robotic operating
suites.

This surgical robotics renovation includes the addition of a new operating room and houses four daVinci
Xi® Surgical Systems, the latest in robotic-assisted surgical technology for minimally invasive surgery.
The Surgical Robotics Institute at Swedish is the most comprehensive robotic-assisted surgery program in
the region.

“The expansion of our Surgical Robotics Institute operating suites will allow us to bring additional
procedures to patients who benefit from the precision made possible through robotic-assisted surgery,”
said Tyler Hood, vice president of operations at Swedish. “With dedicated robotic surgical teams and a
designated inpatient nursing unit, our patients receive a level of care that's unique in the metro area.”

The innovative procedures available through the Surgical Robotic Institute at Swedish Medical Center
include general, gynecologic, urologic, thoracic, and cardiac surgeries including coronary artery bypass
grafting.

The ribbon cutting ceremonies will occur Friday, February 15, from 4-6pm and will feature speakers from
the Englewood Chamber and Swedish Medical Center administration.
