Basic Information:
CED
total number of household of 291 and a land area of 935.66 hectares or 9.35 sq.km.
The population density is 169.20 people per square kilometre (2010 Socio –
Economic survey of the Municipal Planning and Development Council Office – LGU
the labor age bracket. Out of this number 622 are economically active while 360 are
employed while 543 or 87.30% are unemployed. Most of the buildings used as
dwelling are constructed out of mix construction materials. These composed of 127
dwelling units which are made mostly of galvanized iron, concrete and wood
combination. 73 dwelling units are constructed out of light materials which are mostly
bamboo and other light construction materials. Likewise, 47 dwelling units are made
out of pure wood materials. Further, majority of these community dwellings are
foreman. However their vast experiences in the field of construction are not

Through these findings, the CED believed that there is an imperative need to
conduct trainings and workshops intended for carpenters, laborers, and foreman to
advance their skills in the field of construction estimations. Moreover, the trainings
and workshops aim to elevate knowledge of the local carpenters in response with the
emergence of new construction materials and procedures and the methods on how to
estimate. This training and workshop will educate them of the prevailing basic
structural codes and laws, both local and national, which are essentials in estimating
the CED at barangay Ripang and Malama Conner, Apayao, the CED, in response to
the aim of the college to extend its helping hand to the community, will continue its

This extension activity aims to reinforce and formalize the knowledge of local
specifically:
1. Illustrate the different plane and solid figures as basis for computing areas
and volumes;
3. Discuss the standard procedures and sizes in cutting, bending, and splicing of
formworks;
5. Discuss proper reading of structural plans and on the proper laying out

We are pleased to inform you that your barangay was chosen for the conduct of
“Training and Workshop on the Fundamentals of Construction Cost Estimation”
slated on September 25 - 26, 2015 at Paddaoan Barangay Hall, Paddaoan, Conner,
Apayao. This undertaking is spearheaded by Civil Engineering Department in
collaboration with RDE unit of the college.
In connection with this, we would like to request for the participation of 20 local
carpenters from your barangay who are willing to be capacitated on new construction
materials and procedures and method on estimations and basic structural codes and
laws.
We look forward for a positive response and more fruitful collaboration with your
barangay in the future. Thank you very much and more power.
This is to respectfully submit to your office the extension proposal of the CED titled
“Training and Workshop on the Fundamentals of Construction Cost Estimation” for
funding. This activity is part of the MOA forged between ASC and Barangay Council
of Paddaoan to be participated by 20 local carpenters on September 25 - 26, 2015.

All participants will be given a typical copy of plans, sections, and technical
details of a bungalow type residence. With the aid of ASC Civil Engineering
Staffs and the lectures above, they should be able to estimate the given
exercise with ease and comfort.
