Q 2 Explain impact of e, business on global markets with examples

E-business (electronic business), derived from such terms as "e-mail" and "e-commerce," is
the conduct of business on the Internet, not only buying and selling but also servicing
customers and collaborating with business partners. One of the first to use the term was
IBM, when, in October, 1997, it launched a thematic campaign built around the term.
Today, major corporations are rethinking their businesses in terms of the Internet and its
new culture and capabilities. Companies are using the Web to buy parts and supplies
from other companies, to collaborate on sales promotions, and to do joint research.
Exploiting the convenience, availability, and world-wide reach of the Internet, many
companies, such as Amazon.com, the book sellers, have already discovered how to use
the Internet successfully.

Q3 Differentiate , semi-structured , structured, un-structured programmes with examples in each

Management of structured, semi structured and

unstructured data types
Information continued to grow (in number, speed and variety) and other types of XML
data and the emergence of new data, an increase of business to manage and use the
semi-structured (such as XML) and the number of non-structural data. Meanwhile, many
companies are from the narrow level of infrastructure data coming out - so require that
each application has its own data storage channels, to improve access to data and data
management capabilities and reduce costs (for example, management, development,
etc.).

Although we do not expect large organizations to achieve ideal conditions: that at any
time, for all data (structured, semi-structured and unstructured co-) create a single
database standards and structure, but we I believe companies should not be able to
tolerate the semi-structured and unstructured data to prepare a special type of
database. "In the database structure on the war has been a relational database vendors
won," META Group analyst Doug Laney said, "So, unless the user has some special data
types and their access needs, or they should refuse to use of target-oriented and pure
XML database, in order to better support the expansion of their RDBMS management,
thus the non-structural data types into its management into.

Management has provided a powerful RDBMS, such as replication, security, failover and
load balancing, wide application support functions. Database providers are also
developing more sophisticated data caching mechanism to support faster access to this
information.

Extension has been in the RDBMS with the e-mail began to appear under. Microsoft and
IBM, have also begun to Exchange and Notes are moved to SQL Server and DB2 will
come up. Although this means that a workstation using the Exchange of Oracle in its
infrastructure, will continue to have a non-standard database (SQL server and later
Yukon) (This is why we do not want the company to go too early to get a single database
standard One of the reasons), but it at least be able to file a relational database
management database.

RDBMS environment is being extended to the semi-structured data (eg, XML, catalog,
orders) and non-structured data (such as documents, images, audio, video) into coming.
There are two strategies are being executed. Oracle and Microsoft (including Yukon)
database is the foundation to expand their capabilities so that these data types include in
their own database to. At the same time, IBM is adding to its DB2 optimized extension of
its core database to manage data outside of, but only through a common management
only. Too small for value-added distributor cost savings and improve development
capacity needs (as opposed to the development of their own or try a traditional non-
structured database of suppliers), in Oracle's 9i DB (iFS) and in Microsoft The SharePoint
Portal Server (repository in mid-2003 will be replaced by SQL Server) on the
implementation of the building.

Oracle and Microsoft's bad on the one hand this approach is that it makes users more
dependent on these suppliers, and therefore can not afford to register a
"misunderstanding" caused problems, an example of this involves Oracle and some of
the recent argument between its customers. This dispute is about the "user name"
meaning, because the definition of the named user to force these customers have to pay
additional registration fees to Oracle Corporation. This issue will also potentially happen
to any vendor.

Meanwhile, some third-party vendors (such as that Venetica [VeniceBridge], BEA [Liquid
Data]) of the experts are trying to provide in the database layer of middleware on top of
it to a single management system attached to a variety of data types on. Existing
content management providers (such as FileNET, Vignette, Interwoven, Documentum),
also through the expansion of its database management capabilities over ways to enter
this field. This middleware approach to provide users with more independence, so that
they can out of the original content on any single supplier dependency treatment. As the
business logic and management at the middleware layer, so the user can (at least in
theory) run under the floor of any structural, semi-structured or non-structural
databases, and the replacement of suppliers so than usual a big move the pain is much
smaller. However, middleware can easily lead to some operational issues. In addition,
users will become dependent on suppliers of middleware, which makes middleware
suppliers face pressure to increase marketing. Therefore, most of them will be in 4-6
years out of the market.

Both methods above are not mature enough. In the next two years, with the third-party
suppliers and the dominant database vendors more closely, and suppliers are on the
expansion of its database management capabilities of continuous efforts, we look
forward to in the market to have a gradual change.

Existing content management providers must be aware, semi-structural and non

structural RDBMS database market will be the commercialization of products by existing
and cost determined. Users will continue to require large solutions providers (IBM,
Oracle, Microsoft or a lower level of Sybase) on standardization. These content
management providers must also be based on metadata, began to support the content
of these databases as a storage solution.

Content management vendors is one of the problems faced, even though they now have
a market, but will in the next 4-7 years face being squeezed out of the market. This is
because the large database vendors will be their ability to keep the database to a higher
direction, at the same time, large application server vendors (such as Microsoft and IBM,
as well as other similar companies) have will continue to expand their capacity to
application servers - these servers will be able to support more and more display layers
(such as that door) or the next level, which can provide more cross-data warehouse
management. With this happening, content management providers will have to focus on
building on their platform, to support vertical solutions and horizontal applications.

Although RDBMS technology has evolved to accommodate structural and non structural
data, to adapt to the other basic components (such as data integration, metadata, data
quality, data access / inquiry / report) and thus to keep the information structure
independent features, but those who attempt to cross "the data structure continuum" to
merge the information management infrastructure components and structure of the
company would be doomed to fail. Of course, by the index in the structural and non
structural data, but also can establish cross-reference relations. However, between 2005
and 2006, enterprises should be planned to maintain independent information supply
chain in order to successfully carry out across the continuum of information
management.

User behavior: many users should be aware of the enterprise-wide, on the semi-
structured and unstructured data and information infrastructure components and
structure of the management of non-uniform in the next 2-3 years will seem very
feasible within . At the same time, no matter what kind of user's specific information
management strategy and tactics, they should immediately leave the database in their
contracts 中, more rigorous consideration they use terms, conditions and definitions to
enable them to permit Gengxin process, and the same meaning as clear. When creating
a new project, they should carefully weigh the relational DBMS tools, professional
building blocks and different data structures.
