I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the teaching-learning process, 85 % of the students should be able to:
a. Discuss the local & global environmental issues that affects our community and
Integrate/ connect the topics into other disciplines like language and Social studies;
b. Creates the learning task and presents their group outputs in the whole class; and
c. Find significance in integrating their ideas into other disciplines.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:


A. TOPIC: Local and global environmental issues/problems
B. MATERIALS: Visual aids/ Multimedia presentation, cartolina, construction paper,
marking pen, arts materials,
C. REFERENCES: Science 9 Learner’s materials pp. 60-69, google, Wikipedia, Microsoft
Encarta

III. PROCEDURE:

A. PRELIMINARIES:
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance

B. ENGAGE:
The Teacher will introduce a game entitled “Fishdom”. She will show a school of fish
with words and a set of pictures to the group of students in which they will be given the
task to freely associate the fishes with words into each pictures and post them into the
board. The first group to complete the game correctly will be declared the winner and
become the owner of the “Fishdom”.

C. EXPLORE:
With the same groupings, the students will be given certain topic from the Fishdom for
them to discuss with their groups, constructing a brief explanation about it. They may
write the cause and effect of the topic. Then, they will integrate the topic into language
discipline through poem writing. Each group will present their output to the class.

D. EXPLAIN/ VERIFICATION:
The teacher will discuss about the local and global environmental issues/ problems:
 Deforestation  Air Pollution
 Wildlife Depletion  Destruction of Coastal Resources
 Water pollution
The teacher will introduce interdisciplinary approach through asking the students a
question.
Interdisciplinary approach will also be discussed as an integration method for more than
one discipline in examining a theme, issue or topic. Students will be given an example of
an integration by the teacher for them to be familiar with such technique.

Example of interdisciplinary approach:

lives and properties. helping people to be creative in
making earthenware from ash fall.

after the eruption.

E. ELABORATE:
The teacher will group the students into four and give each group an activity task to be
presented afterwards. The rating of the group output will be graded by other group
using Star color.

IV. EVALUATON:
`DIRECTION: Using your knowledge in Science and other disciplines, construct an
interdisciplinary connections and write it in a tabular form. The focused topic will be:
a. CLIMATE CHANGE

V. ASSIGNMENT:

With your group, research on currents issues about technology from the news,
entertainment, and connect it with disciplines like science, religion, etc.
