AUTOPSY REPORT

To whom it may concern:

This is to certify that I have seen and examined the body of MR. ROBERT
BAUTISTA. 21 years old, male, single from Bangued, Abra who was killed , on January
20, 2019. The autopsy report found the following physical injuries
The patient was a 21 year old Asian male, 5, 8” weighing 65 kilograms with no
significant past medical history who was declared dead on arrival at the Baguio General
Hospital (BGH) Emergency Department. Upon arrival at the ER the patient was
unresponsive with dilated pupils, apneic, cyanotic and no vital signs were noted.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and Advanced Cardiac life support was initiated but
despite the resuscitative efforts, the patient showed no cardiac tone, blood pressure
reading, no signs of spontaneous respiration and no return of circulation. The patient
was pronounced dead at 11:55pm of January 20, 2019.
Gross external physical examination revealed:
1. Lacerated wound on the left fronto temporal area of the head
2. Periorbital hematoma of the right eye
3. Multiple contusion hematoma over the left and right upper extremties
4. Contusion hematoma over the right chest and and right upper quadrant of the the
abdomen
5. Multiple rib fractures
6. Blistering of the skin on the lower chest and upper back area secondary to
thermal burns
7. Comminuted fracture the proximal third of the left femur
Internal examination revealed:
1. Cranial findings show severe cerebral edema and mild subdural hemorrhage
2. Muscles of the upper extremeties show moderate hematoma over multiple
sites
3. Chest and lung findings show multiple fractures of the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th,
and 12th rib. The right pleural cavity and lung parenchyma contains 700 ml of
 blood. The lower lobe of the right lung was punctured by 7th and 8th rib with
noted lung collapse. The diaphragm was perforated by the 11th and 12th rib
4. Liver finding shows multiple lacerations on the right lobe by the fractured ends
of the 11th and 12th ribs which produced a massive bleed into the peritoneal
cavity of approximately 2Liters

Summary:
This patient died shortly after rapid and significant loss of circulating blood volume. The
sever loss of intravascular volume leads sequentially to hemodynamic instability,
decrease in oxygen delivery, decreased tissue perfusion, cellular hypoxia, organ
damage, and death. The most significant finding on autopsy was the presence blood
over the pleural and peritoneal cavity. This created a circulatory shutdown that the heart
could not handle resulting in cardiac dysfunction and ultimately the patient’s demise.

Time of Death: 11:30pm on January 20, 2019

CAUSE OF DEATH : Hemorrhagic shock secondary to exanguination secondary to
blunt force trauma to the liver
Manner of Death: Homicide
Remarks: Decedent originally presented to this office as a hazing/homicide victim.
Baguio City detectives were notified of this finding immediately upon conclusion of
examination.
