It is my pleasure to write a recommendation letter on behalf of Lauren Wiener. I had the

privilege of supervising her during her student teaching experience in a second grade
classroom.

All of the lessons I observed reflected a good knowledge of content and standards. Lesson plans
were well written and carried out with confidence. Lauren was always prepared and exhibited
many qualities of an effective teacher. She was very reflective about her teaching and always
looking for ways to improve instruction and student learning. Suggestions and ideas were
accepted very enthusiastically. Students responded well to Lauren and she treated all students
with kindness and respect. She worked especially well with a special needs child in the
classroom. Ms. Wiener is a true professional in every sense of the word. All of her coursework
and classroom experiences provided by JMU have prepared her well to tackle all aspects of
teaching in an elementary classroom. She is ready to meet the challenge. All criterion on her
final assessment have been fully met or have exceeded expectations.

I highly recommend Lauren Wiener for a teaching position in your school. As a retired
elementary principal, I would be thrilled to hire a first year teacher of her caliber. She will be a
positive addition to your faculty and I can see her becoming an instructional leader in your
