 Descriptive text

Teks Deskriptif yaitu teks yang menjelaskan gambaran seseorang atau benda. Tujuannya adalah
untuk menggambarkan atau mengungkapkan orang, tempat atau benda tertentu.

Bisa dikatakan juga bahwa Descriptive text adalah teks yang menjelaskan tentang seperti apakah
orang atau benda yang dideskripsikan, baik bentuknya, sifat-sifatnya, jumlahnya dan lain-lain.

Struktur Descriptive Text (generic structure) adalah :


1. Identification (identifikasi) adalah pendahuluan , berupa gambaran umum tentang suatu topik.
2.Description (deskripsi) adalah berisi ciri-ciri khusus yang dimiliki benda, tempat, atau orang
yang dideskripsikan.
Ciri-ciri Descriptive Text :
- Menggunakan simple present tense
- Menggunakan attribute verb, seperti be (am, is, are)
- Hanya fokus pada satu objek tersebut.

Paris

Paris is the capital of a European nation, France. It is also one of the most
beautiful and most famous cities in the world.

Paris is called the city of Light. It is also an international fashion center. What
stylish women are wearing in Paris will be worn by women all over the world.
Paris is also famous for its world center of education. For instance, it is the
headquarters of UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization.

The Seine River divides the city into two parts. Thirty-two bridges cross this
scenic river. The oldest and perhaps the most well-known is Pon Neuf, which was
built in the sixteenth century. Sorbonne, a famous university, is located on the
left bank (south side) of the river. The beautiful white church Sacre Coeur lies on
the top of hill called Montmartre on the right bank (north side) of the Seine.

There are many other famous places in Paris, such as the famous museum the
Louvre as well the cathedral of Notre Dame. However, the most famous landmark
in this city must be the Eiffel Tower.

Paris is named after a group of people called the Parisii. They built a small village
on an island in the middle of the Seine River about two thousand years ago. This
island is called lie de la Cite. It is where Notre Dame located. Today around eight
million people live in Paris area.

The Hobbit

The Hobbit is a film series consisting of three epic fantasy adventure


films directed by Peter Jackson. They are based on the 1937 novel The Hobbit by J.
R. R. Tolkien, with large portions of the trilogy inspired by the appendices to The
Return of the King, which expand on the story told in The Hobbit, as well as new
material and characters written especially for the films. The films are subtitled An
Unexpected Journey (2012), The Desolation of Smaug (2013), and The Battle of the
Five Armies (2014).
The screenplay was written by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Jackson,
and Guillermo del Toro, who was originally chosen to direct before his departure
from the project. The films take place in the fictional world of Middle-earth sixty
years before the beginning of The Lord of the Rings, and follow hobbit Bilbo
Baggins (Martin Freeman), who is convinced by the wizard Gandalf the Grey (Ian
McKellen) to accompany thirteen dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard
Armitage), on a quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from
the dragon Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch). The films also expand upon certain
elements from the novel and other source material, such as Gandalf's investigation
at Dol Guldur, and the pursuit of Azog and Bolg, who seek vengeance against Thorin
and his ancestors.
The first film in the series premiered at the Embassy
Theatre in Wellington, New Zealand on 28 November 2012. One hundred thousand
people lined the red carpet on Courtenay Place, and the entire event was broadcast
live on television in New Zealand and streamed over the Internet. The second film of
the series premiered at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California on 2 December
2013. The third and final film premiered at Leicester Square in London on 1
December 2014.

Clash of Clans (COC)

Clash of Clans is an online multiplayer game in which players build a community, train
troops, and attack other players to earn gold and elixir, and Dark Elixir, which can be used to
build defenses that protect the player from other players' attacks, and to train and upgrade
troops. The game also features a pseudo-single player campaign in which the player must
attack a series of fortified goblin villages.
To earn and store gold and elixir, players must build gold mines and gold storages

Recount Text adalah salah satu jenis text dalam bahasa Inggris yang menceritakan kembali
tentang kejadian-kejadian atau pengalaman-pengalaman di masa lampau. Tujuan dari Recount
Text adalah untuk memberikan informasi atau untuk menghibur pembaca sehingga tidak terdapat
konflik.

1. Macam-macam Recount Text :


a. Personal Recount
Yaitu menceritakan tentang pengalaman pribadi penulis

b. Factual Recount
Yaitu laporan peristiwa yang benar-benar terjadi, seperti laporan percobaan ilmu pengetahuan,
laporan kepolisian.

c. Imaginative
Yaitu membuat cerita imaginative lalu menuliskan peristiwa atau kejadian yang telah terjadi.

2. Struktur Recount Text adalah sebagai berikut :

a. Orientation
Yaitu pengenalan berupa memberikan informasi tentang siapa, dimana dan kapan peristiwa atau
kejadian itu terjadi di masa lampau.

Yaitu merupakan rekaman peristiwa yang terjadi, biasanya disampaikan dalam urutan
kronologis, seperti : "In the first day... . And in the next day... . And in the last day... ." Pada
bagian ini terdapat juga komentar pribadi tentang peristiwa atau kejadian yang diceritakan.
c. Reorientation
Yaitu pengulangan pengenalan yang ada di orientation, pengulangan tentang rangkuman
peristiwa atau kejadian yang diceritakan.

Last month my family and I went to Toraja to attend Grandpa’s funeral. It was my first time to go to
such a ceremony. We gathered there with our kin in the ceremony.
Overall, the ceremony was quite elaborate. It took about a week. Several days before the ceremony
was done, grandpa’s body was kept in a series of houses arranged in a circular row around an open field
called tongkonan. His corpse was dressed in a fine wearing.
The funeral was performed in two phases. First, we slaughtered the pigs and buffaloes, and then
moved the corpse to face north. In this ceremony we wore black clothes. After that, the corpse was placed in a
sandal wood coffin. Then, it was brought out of the house and placed on an open platform beneath the
granary.
Meanwhile, my uncle, my brother, and I prepared the wooden puppet and a funeral tower called
lakian. The next phase of the ceremony was held in this place. The coffin is borne from the house and placed
in the lakian. During the day, there were also buffalo matches. They were great matches. In the night, we
were feasting, chanting, and dancing.

Teks report mengupas suatu hasil pengamatan, penelaahan, penelitian, observasi, atau study
tentang benda atau binatang, orang atau tempat.

Report Text hampir sama dengan Descriptive Text yang membedakan adalah objek yang
diceritakan berbentuk jamak, sedangkan objek yang diceritakan pada Descriptive Text berbentuk
tunggal.

Generic Structure Report Text adalah :


1. General classification (Klasifikasi umum) : pengantar tentang sesuatu atau fenomena yang akan
dibahas.
2. Description (Deskripsi) : menerangkan sesuatu atau fenomena yang dibahas, meliputi bagian-

Cactus

A cactus (plural: cacti) is any member of the plant family Cactaceae, native to the Americas.
They are often used as ornamental plants, but some are also crop plants. Cacti are grown for
protection of property from wild animals, as well as many other uses.
Cacti are part of the plant order Caryophyllales, which also include members like beets,
gypsophila, spinach, amaranth, tumbleweeds, carnations, rhubarb, buckwheat, plumbago,
bougainvillea, chickweed and knotgrass.
Cacti are unusual and distinctive plants, which are adapted to extremely arid and hot
environments, showing a wide range of anatomical and physiological features which conserve water.
Their stems have adapted to become photosynthetic and succulent, while the leaves have become
the spines for which cacti are well known.
Cacti come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. The tallest is Pachycereus pringlei, with a

1. Jenis-jenis Narrative Text

Narrative Text mempunyai inti cerita yang biasanya hanya berupa imajinasi penulis atau kejadian
nyata yang ditangkap oleh penulis atau bahkan bisa gabungan keduanya. Dalam berbagai sumber
Narrative Text dapat ditemui dalam bentuk :

a. fables (Cerita tentang binatang yang digambarkan berprilaku seperti manusia)


b. fairy stories (Cerita yang bersifat fantastik, penuh dengan keajaiban)
c. mysteries
d. science fiction
e. romances
f. horror stories
g. legends
h. historical narratives
i. personal experience (pengalaman pribadi yang ditulis)

2. Generic Structure Narrative Text


Pada Narrative Text, susunannya adalah sebagai berikut :

a. Orientation

Yaitu pengenalan yang berupa : cerita tentang apa (what is the story about), siapa pelaku dalam
cerita itu (who is the participant), dimana cerita itu terjadi (where is the place setting) dan kapan
cerita itu terjadi (when is the time setting).

b. Complication atau Problem

Yaitu pada paragraf ini yang menjadi inti dari narrative text. Tanpa ada permasalahan, text ini
hanyalah berupa paparan peristiwa satu yang diikuti dengan peristiwa yang lain. Masalah yang
timbul dapat dibedakan menjadi :

- Natural Conflict
Yaitu permasalahan yang timbul karena pelaku cerita berhadapan dengan kekuatan alam.

- Social Conflict
Yaitu permasalahan yang timbul karena para pelaku itu saling berhadapan. Mereka bertemu pada
waktu yang sama dengan berbeda kepentingan.

- Psychological Conflict
Yaitu Permasalahan yang timbul ketika pelaku cerita itu berhadapan dengan dirinya sendiri.
Pertentangan antara nilai baik dan buruk, antara sifat rakus dan tenggang rasa.

c. Resolution
Yaitu masalah dapat diatasi. Dalam Narrative text, setiap permasalahan yang muncul harus ada
penyelesaiannya, bisa ditutup dengan akhir yang menyenangkan (happy ending) atau tidak sedikit
berakhir tragis, menyedihkan (sad ending).

d. Re-Orientation
Hanya untuk Optional .

3. Ciri Kebahasaan Narrative Text

was still a long way off. This made Kbo Iwo wild with great anger. In his hunger, he destroyed
all the houses and even all the temples. It made the Balinese turn to rage.
So, they came together to plan steps to oppose this powerful giant by using his stupidity.
They asked Kbo Iwo to build them a very deep well, and rebuild all the houses and temples he
had destroyed. After they fed Kbo Iwo, he began to dig a deep hole.
One day he had eaten too much, he fell asleep in the hole. The oldest man in the village gave
a sign, and the villagers began to throw the limestone they had collected before into the hole. The

di kertas.

Post card adalah bagian persegi panjang kertas tebal atau karton tipis ditujukan untukmenulis dan
pengiriman tanpa amplop.

11. Letter (surat)


Letter adalah komunikasi tertulis atau dicetak: pesan disajikan dalam karakterdimengerti pada sesuatu di
