CHAPTER-ONE:
Attempt all the questions.
1. What is word processor? What are the features of word
processor? Give some examples.
Word processor is the application software that helps in
the creation of a document. It facilitates the creation if
document through computerized text editing, formatting,
storing and printing. It allows the user to type text, make
corrections without retyping the entire matter and has
the feature to make the text look attractive. It can
enhance documents in many ways such as user can add
image and animation, link different documents together,
use of speller and thesaurus.

Features are :
1. Fast operation: Typing text in a Word Processor
becomes very fast as there is no mechanical carriage
movement associated.
2. Editing text features: Any type of operations, likewise
insert, delete, modify the documents and undo/redo,
find/replace can be perform very easily. These
insertion, deletion or correction can be performed at
any time in place of the text. These alterations can be
made before and after typing the entire document.
Similarly, move or copy a section or block of text or
object from any location of the same document or
other document to

another location in the entire material of the document

3. Permanent storage: By the help of Word Processor,
files and documents can be saved as long as preferred
and saved files and documents can be retrieved
whenever desired.

2. How to open MS Word?

 Click on Start Button on the left-down corner of the
screen or Start Button.
 Choose All Programs.
 Choose Microsoft Office Folder.
 Select Microsoft Office-2007.
 Then your required program Document1 –
Microsoft will open.
3. How can you insert symbol, time and date in document?
For Date and Time:
 From insert option select Date and Time
 A dialogue box will be given.
 Select the type of date and time to be pasted in your
document and click on OK.

For Inserting Symbol:

 Select Insert option.

 Select Symbol option. A box will appear with

various characters in each cell. It has more
options when you click and list items. Some
special characters including Nepali font etc
can also be created.
 Point to the character and double click. You
can create short-cut key for each character as
you require.
4. What are drop caps, spelling and grammar and
thesaurus?
Drop cap is a large initial letter that is dropped at the
beginning of the paragraph. Spelling and grammar is
used to correct the words that users may have made
mistake during typing. Thesaurus is used to look up
synonyms and antonyms.
5. What is merging document? Write the steps with
example.
Merging document is the tool or system set up to help
multiple users work together on a single document or file to
achieve a single final version.
Steps for merging documents are:
 Open Excel document.
 Enter names and address of all people to whom you
are going to send the letter.
 Save the file as Address1
 Switch to MS Word.
 Click on Tools option on the main menu bar.
 Select Letters and Mailing – Mail Merge Wizard

 Select Letters as shown by radio buttons.

 Click on Next: Starting document.
 Select – Use the current document( 2 of 6)
 Click Next: Select recipients.
 Select – Use an existing list.
 Click on browse. Locate to the file and folder where

 Point to the file and select.
 You will get another dialogue box
 Select the sheet number
 Click Select all and the OK
 Now click on Next: Write your letter

I. What is spreadsheet package? What are its merits
and demerits? Give some examples.
Answer: A spreadsheet is an interactive computer application
for organization, analysis and storage of data in tabular form.
Spreadsheets developed as computerized analogs of paper
accounting worksheets. The program operates on data
entered in cells of a table.
Merits:
 They are used to create documents like reports, files and
so on.

<h1>Welcome To Our
Site</h1><p>
I am Ben Carling, the owner and head coach at Sports
Performance Services Ltd, based in Douglas, Isle of Man.
After studying business management, I decided embark in a
career that was also a passion of mine; health and fitness. I
had played sports from an early age so it seemed a natural
thing to do. I became a qualified Personal Trainer, and
latterly an accredited Strength and Conditioning coach with
the UKSCA. Currently there are only 4 accredited coaches in
the Isle of Man, and circa 600 in the UK.<br>

As well as private work, I work at the Isle of Man Sport

Institute. I work with a wide cross section of athletes from
different sports, from field based sports such as football,
rugby and hockey to individual sports such as archery,
sailing, tennis, motorsport and swimming. I am proud to have
played my part in helping these athletes set personal bests,
Island records and some that have gone on to achieve
scholarships or youth contracts at professional level.<br>

CONCLUSION
From this project work I got a chance to learn many
things about MS Word, MS Excel, HTML, MS
PowerPoint and many other things. I have got the

project was really helpful for me.
