ABSTRACT

The study was carried out to investigate the issues in pupil’s Spelling with Consonant
Digraph ‘ck’ By Using Syllabification Technique to improve the pupils ability in
spelling based on the analysis of the preliminary test that had been administered
towards Year 5 pupils, an issue of concern was identified. Feedback gained
throughout the test indicated that more than half of the participants in the same
classroom having problem within the spelling area which dealt with the use of
consonant digraph ‘ck’, specifically. The focus of this investigation would be on to
develop the participants’ spelling skill which is the usage of the consonant digraph
‘ck’ within the English Language words. These participants needed serious help with
the intention that they would become better spellers, as well as to boost-up their
motivation, intrinsically. The initiative taken also would turn into a stepping stone in
improving other skills within their learning practice.

ABSTRAK

Kajian ini telah dijalankan untuk meningkatkan keupayaan murid-murid dengan


menggunaka kaedah mengeja menggukan teknik Suku kata khususnya bagi
konsonan diagraf 'ck'. Teknik ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keupayaan murid
dalam ejaan berdasarkan analisis ujian awal yang telah diberikan kepada murid
Tahun 5, satu masalah telah dikenal pasti, iaitu murid gagal mengeja dengan betul
bila menggunakan konsonan “ck”. Maklumbalas mendapat sepanjang ujian
menunjukkan bahawa lebih daripada separuh peserta dalam kelas mengahadapi
masalah dengan ejaan menggunakan konsonan digraf 'ck'. Tumpuan kajian ini akan
untuk meningkatkan kemahiran ejaan yang merupakan penggunaan digraf konsonan'
peserta “ck” dalam perkataan Bahasa Inggeris. Peserta-peserta tersebut memerlukan
bantuan yang serius dengan tujuan bahawa mereka akan menjadi lebih baik dalam
ejaan, dan juga untuk meningkatkan motivasi mereka, secara intrinsik. Inisiatif yang
diambil juga akan menjadi batu loncatan dalam meningkatkan kemahiran lain dalam
amalan pembelajaran mereka.
