Nokia Data Suite Quick Guide

Issue 1

Nokia Data Suite is a set of PC applications developed for use with your
Nokia 6088 or Nokia 7088. With Nokia Data Suite, you can transfer files
(for example, images, videos, tones, recordings) from your device to a
compatible PC.

Hardware and software requirements


• A compatible PC that runs on Microsoft Windows XP/2000
• A compatible Nokia mobile phone (Nokia 6088 or Nokia 7088)
• Nokia DKE-2 cable or similar data cable, and a compatible port in the
computer
• Internet Explorer 5.0 or later version installed on your PC
• At least 150-250 MB of free disk space

Install Nokia Data Suite


Before using Nokia Data Suite, you must install it on your PC. To install
Nokia Data Suite, download the installation files from Nokia website
www.nokia-asia.com/6088/support or
www.nokia-asia.com/7088/support to your PC, and do the following:
1. Connect your device to the PC with a compatible USB cable and
switch the device on.
2. Exit all Windows programs before installation.
3. Double click Setup.exe to run the installer.
4. In the License Agreement window, read through and accept the
License Agreement by clicking Yes.
If you do not accept the agreement, you cannot use the program.
5. Click Next to install the program to the default folder, or click
Browse... to define another destination folder on your hard disk.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen, and click Continue Anyway to
proceed the installation when a warning message pops up.

7. Select Finish to complete the setup.
8. Restart your computer.

Uninstall Nokia Data Suite


You can uninstall Nokia Data Suite when you do not use it any more.
1. In the Windows system, select Start > Control Panel.
2. Double click Add/Remove Programs.
3. From the list of Current Installed Programs, select Data Suite.
4. Click Remove.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen until the program files are
removed.
6. Click Finish to complete the uninstallation.

Use Nokia Data Suite


To use Nokia Data Suite, do the following:
1. Connect your device to PC with a compatible USB cable.
2. Launch the application of Nokia Data Suite.
3. To set COM port, select Setting >
Ports, COM Port Configuration
dialog box displays.
4. Press Add button, and add the
COM port assigned to Data Suite.
Press Save&Exit to save the COM
port and exit the dialog box.
If you are not sure which COM
port to use, do the following:
• In Windows XP/2000, right click My Computer and select
Properties.
• In the System Properties window, select Hardware tab.
• Press on Device Manager button, and Device Manager window
displays.

• Click the + sign to the left of Ports (COM & LPT) to expand it.
• Check and view the COM port assigned to Data Suite.
5. In the drop down list of
Port Select, select the
COM port assigned to
Data Suite.
6. Click Connect to start
the handshake
between PC and your
device.
Once the handshake is
successful, the red
light changes to green,
and the program lists the top level file folders on the PC and device
side.
Only English and Spanish languages are supported. To change the
language, click Language.
7. Two windows
are displayed.
The left window
shows the local
disk drives on
the PC, and the
right window
shows the
folders in your
device.
The folders
Images, Video
clips, Recordings,
Clip-arts, Frames, Screen saver, Wallpapers, Alert tones, Ring tones in
device can be viewed, and only the files in these folders can be
transferred.

Transfer files with Data Suite
Copyright protections may prevent some images, music (including
ringing tones), and other content from being copied, modified,
transferred or forwarded.
With Nokia Data Suite, you can transfer files like image, video clip, tone
and recording from your device to a compatible PC. To transfer one or
more files, do the following:
1. In the right
window of the
program screen,
click the + sign
to the left of the
folder you want
to expand, and
select one or
more files you
want to transfer.
2. In the left
window of the
program screen,
locate the folder in which you want to store these files.
3. Press the left-arrow button between the left and right windows.
4. The file transfer starts, you can view the transfer progress on the
status bar at the bottom of the window.
5. After transferring all files, click Exit to exit the program.
