I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. understand the concept of 5S in computer system servicing;
b. execute and participate in every activity of the lesson;
c. internalize the importance of 5S in a working environment.

ACTIVITY 1: WORD PUZZLE
Instruction: (5 minutes)
The teacher will divide the class into (10) ten groups. Each group will be given
5 minutes to write their answers. The words below indicate the Japanese and
English words of 5S:
 Sort
 Shine
 Standardize
 Set in Order
 Sustain
 Seiso
 Shitsuke
 Seiketsu
 Seiri
 Seiton
B. Lesson Proper
ACTIVITY 2: FIND MY PAIR
Instruction: (5 minutes)
In the same group, the students will pair the Japanese word to English word
of 5S.

ENGLISH WORD JAPANESE WORD


 Sort  SEIRI
 Shine  SEISO
 Standardize  SEIKETSU
 Set in Order  SEITON
 Sustain  SHITSUKE

ACTIVITY 3: WHO I AM
Instruction: (5 minutes)
In the same group, the students will be given five definitions of 5S and they
will identify the specific 5S.
SORT/SEIRI
 Differentiate between the necessary from the unnecessary and discard the
unnecessary. Keep only the essential items. Everything else is stored or
discarded.
SET IN ORDER/ SEITON
 There should be a place for everything and everything should be in its place.
The place for each item should be clearly labeled.
SHINE/SEISO
 Keep the workplace tidy and organized. Clean the work area and be sure
everything is restored to its place.
STANDARDIZE/SEIKETSU
 Setting up standards for a neat and clean workplace (place photos on the walls,
to provide visual reminder). Establish procedures and schedules to ensure the
consistency of implementing the first three “s” practices.
SUSTAIN/SHITSUKE
 Maintain and review standards, continue to improve it.
ACTIVITY 4: PICTURE
Instruction: (5 minutes)
In the same group, teacher will call one student in every group, they will be
given a sample picture of 5S and paste it to the correct 5S.

C. Application
ROLE PLAYING

In the same group, the teacher will assign each group a specific 5S and they
will create a role-play out of it.

D. Generalization

 What is/are the importance of 5S in a working environment especially in


Computer System Servicing?
 What happen to the workplace if 5S is not introduced or implemented?

IV. EVALUATION: In a ½ crosswise, the students will answer the formative


test.
