O
nce called the
basketcase of Asia, the
Philippine economy
has increasingly been tagged
by the top economists and
bankers around the world as
one of the economies to watch
out for amidst the global
economic slowdown.
Backed by strong macro
economic fundamentals, such
as a manageable inflation
rate, low debt-to-GDP (gross
domestic product) ratio and a
strong currency, the Philippine
economy has breezed
through the current crisis
relatively unscathed.
