To the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRMC)

My warmest greetings to the association of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council
(DRRMC) on the publication and strengthening of Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.

The past year has borne with it a challenge to revitalize areas ravaged by the series of disasters
that struck our homeland. Through the efforts of “bayanihan” and volunteers around the globe, the
survivors of typhoon, disasters, and global warming effects have gained a small measure of recompense
for their unfathomable loss. But many individuals still struggle to regain their life living, and it is our duty
to restore their dignity and stability. May this message be an authoritative testimony of our need for
vigilance and accountability and inspire its readers to participate more meaningfully in our rehabilitation
efforts.

Our fellow men in barangay deserve the best that a culture of equitability and inclusiveness can
offer. Let us work even harder to rebuild their hopes and protect their families. The lessons we have
learned through this ordeal must teach us to be more compassionate and urgent in our decisions. May
the whole DRRMC associates, together with our partners among other governing agencies, volunteers,
and concern citizen in barangay act in solidarity to identify the most important issues in disaster risk
prevention, preparedness, and recovery, and form definitive and effective contingencies to safeguard
our people.

The primary goal of the BDRRMC is to REDUCE the Risk that may arise from any HAZARDS from
becoming DISASTER in the BARANGAY of STA.MARIA and to the municipality of Minalin, Pampanga.

The importance of Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC) for us
is to be prepare on any calamities or disaster. To educate the people and be aware of any impending
natural CALAMITIES that may occur/happen in our place any time of the day.

God bless us all that our Barangay would be free from any CALAMITY/DISASTER. Let’s pray for
the SAFETY of all the RESIDENTS living in our BARANGAY STA. MARIA.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
 The barangay Sta. Maria is one of the beneficiaries of the program: Philippine School and
Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management by the International Non-Government
Organization (NGO): Save the Children International
The barangay is actively participating in seminar/workshops and training conducted by Save the Children
International. The Barangay Council are now aware of emergency that may occur in the BARANGAY.
They developed capacities or knowledge in DISASTER PREPAREDNESS: The difference of vulnerable and
hazard, early warning procedures and contingency planning.
