Social Foundational Capability

Monozukuri has its own various meanings/ philosophies in context with the Japanese culture. In
my own opinion Monozukuri is a well-organized belief of philosophy that it includes all the things, whether
living or non-living, has their own sentimental value. I was amazed and enlightened by how their culture
was able to establish monuments for needles and scissors. It was the nature of the Japanese people to
put their belief that all inanimate things are called “mono” which means that spirits and life also resides
on these things. They were able to help the nature because they believe that helping the nature would
grant them what they needed for. They were able to tap in the nature and think about it and also be one
with the nature. All crafts in Japan were beautiful because they believe that putting heart into work would
help you understand the most important aspects of technique and precision. Thus all this mentioned
beliefs and aspects makes them all a well-organized culture in the world, in my opinion.

Maxim for Engineers Reflection

I can see why Japanese culture are productive when it comes to work ethics and they’re attitude
towards their culture and to the people because they have their own prophecies and beliefs of having a
bright future. I am enlightened when I listened and understand their way of life. They have the necessary
and essentials skills and attitude to develop prior in the working world because they simply have their
own philosophy. There are a lot of traits are mentioned on the presentation but I want to point out these
traits that I really need to improve namely the flexibility, stress management, and unity. Sometimes I am
not flexible enough to initiate the alternative ways when it is dealing problems in the real world. Flexibility
is of the important traits to be emphasize in the real world because without flexibility, we can’t do
anything without it. Stress is the only thing I hate because it always involves in my studies and having
stress is one of the major things that I couldn’t do my work well. Unity isn’t the best I had worked for
because I tend to become alone and work on myself without other’s guidance and help. I’m pointing out
these things because I want to survive in the real world without this I could be helpless. I want to improve
these traits because basically I believe in the Japanese way of philosophy. These could improve my work
ethics in the future when I would join foreign jobs. But not just these traits mentioned are needed to
improve, but the other traits mentioned on the presentation because working with all these traits may
progress in your life and having perfect harmony and balance on working.

Character Building

One should adapt to the real world experience and one should prevail. Monozukuri thought me
the ways of surviving the real world. They thought us to be strong, perfect and being productive at the
same time. One should learn their purpose in this real world and may we encounter it and learn and
improve from it. I have learned that character building is essential to catch up the fast-paced world we
are into and we should be productive to it so that others can benefit not just from myself but to them.
These characteristics are needed to become a productive engineer in the future knowing that they
needed this to help people in their daily living of innovation.
