1. The maximum number of members per group in a design project is 4, unless otherwise approved by the
Engineering Research Committee.
2. Selected topic for design project/thesis will be during 1 st semester of 5th year. Prototyping is 2nd semester
of 5th year.
3. The group must look for an adviser for their design proposal and fill out the Adviser’s Acknowledgement
Form for the approval of the chosen adviser. The adviser must be coming from the department where the
group/s belong. If in case there is no adviser available, the group may request for an outside-of-
department-adviser subject to the approval of Engineering Research Committee.
4. Members of the Engineering Research Committee are the chairpersons of each program, Research
Coordinator and the College Dean.
5. The group, in consultation with the adviser, prepares a proposal and submits to the Research
Coordinator.
6. The group must fill out the Title Proposal Application Form (minimum of 3 titles to be presented). Such
proposal must include the following: Title, Background of the Study, Statement of the problem, Objectives,
Significance and Related Studies.
7. Once a title has been approved, Periodic Progress Reports signed by the adviser must be submitted to
the Research Coordinator within the specified period as indicated in the schedule given at start of the
semester.
8. The group must fill out the Application for Preliminary Presentation (Chapters 1 –3), and must be
endorsed by the adviser. Upon the application by the group and endorsement by the adviser, the
Research Coordinator schedules the preliminary presentation.
9. The student gives a copy of the documents (Chapter 1 – 3) to each member of the committee at least
seven (7) days before the scheduled preliminary presentation.
10. Adviser/s are not allowed to sit as a panel member.
11. The adviser and Research Coordinator should never influence on how the Research/Design Project
should be graded.
12. The Chairman of the Panel must come from the College of Engineering, University of Perpetual Help
System Dalta, Las Piñas Campus.
13. After passing the Final Defense, the group must submit three (3) copies of Final Documentation in hard
bound, together with a soft copy in CD. IEEE documentation format must be submitted by the group
(hard copy and soft copy)
14. Documentation that will be submitted should be checked and reviewed by a grammarian.
15. All prototypes must be submitted to the College of Engineering and will become part of the College
property
16. The Research Coordinator encodes the final grade in GTI.
17. The adviser has to be replaced for reasons as follows:
1. Involvement proven or not in complains of the advisees, school, faculty related to design project
writing.
2. Integrity is put to question
3. Refusal of the adviser to continue. In this case, the adviser must submit a letter and be approved
by the Engineering Research Committee

18. The following fees are applied and should be given by the group before every presentation:
Note:
Failure to present the title/preliminary/final defense on the scheduled date will mean FAILURE in the
grade of every member of the group.
Any situations not included in the guidelines are subject for the approval of the Engineering Research
Committee.
