By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to :

2. Form and write at least six colour words in groups using letter cards.

PRE LESSON
Play Find Something
1. Pupils listen to teacher, E.g. Find Something red. Pupils touch something red in the classroom.
2. Teacher writes the colour words on the board.
LESSON DEVELOPMENT
1. Pupils sit in small groups. Teacher gives each group some letters (cards).
2. Pupils have to try to grab the correct letter when teacher calls out a letter. They keep it if they grab it first.
3. Next, teacher tells a colour word. Pupils work together to try to spell it using the letters they have.
TEACHING & LEARNING
4. Pupils read and colour the words given in the worksheet.
ACTIVITIES
5. Pupils draw and colour a hat and write the colour of their hat. My hat is red.
6. Teacher discusses pupils’ answers.
POST LESSON
Task 10: Test your memory
1. Pupils observe the pictures in page 4 for 1 minute.
2. Pupils close their books and listen to the teacher.
3. Teacher makes true/false statements.
4. Pupils tell if teacher’s statements are true/false, and correct the false statements.

PRE LESSON
Task 1: Work out the words
1. Teacher write three anagrams of colour words one by one on the board.
2. Pupils work out the words by completing the anagrams in pairs.
LESSON DEVELOPMENT
1. Pupils review the colour words using flash cards.
2. Pupils listen to a colour and find for a thing with the colour around the class.
3. Pupils play a game of pelmanism with colour flash cards in small groups.
4. Teacher lays out all the cards, face down (colour flash cards and colour word cards)
TEACHING & LEARNING 5. Pupils turn over two cards in turns to find a pair of matching colour + word.
ACTIVITIES 6. Teacher gives three colour flash cards to each group; pupils make a poster by drawing object(s) of a certain
colour. They colour them and then write the colour word underneath.
7. Pupils display their group works in classroom.
8. Pupils talk about the colours and objects using as much vocabulary as they may have.
POST LESSON
Task 11: What about me?
1. Teacher writes some colour words on the board and asks pupils to read them.
2. Teacher circles a word and say, “What about me?”
3. Teacher elicits from pupils about the word that has been circled.
4. Pupils repeat the activity in pairs by telling the word to their partner, who should try to guess what the connection is.
