Students will discuss about what they think should happen in a rehearsal.

1. Students will learn about the proper way to sit and sing
2. Students will learn the proper way to stand and sing
3. Students will learn about how they should handle themselves while on stage
4. Students will learn how they should act in the audience.
*Instructional Input or Procedure
1. Break students off into 4 groups.
2. Guide a discussion about different rules that are in place.
a. Ask about the Golden Rule, or treating others with kindness, example
b. Ask them about how they feel when people follow these rules; and when people
don’t.
3. Talk to students about basic rules that are in all classes
a. i.e. raising hands, not speaking out of turn
4. Equate rehearsal rules to basic class rules
a. i.e. not speaking out of turn, raising hands
5. Show and help students to sit the proper way during rehearsal.
a. Sitting upright and straight
b. Feet shoulder-width apart
c. Chin up and facing forward, with controlled breathing
6. Show how and help students to stand the proper way during rehearsal.
a. Stand upright and straight
b. Feet shoulder-width apart
c. Chin up and facing forward, with controlled breathing
***Have some fun with it, showing the wrong ways to do so. Keep control of class if
you allow students to do the same as you***
7. Talk to students about basic rules that are in all classes

c. Always smile on stage
d. Have fun! Emphasize this and ask them ways they could have fun on stage while
following the other rules.
*Modeling
The teacher will show different and act out the proper way to sit, stand, and act
during a rehearsal.

Students will demonstrate this in class during the lesson.

Students will do this as group, with prompting during the lesson.
*Independent Practice
Students will hopefully carry on the instruction forward, through other future classes in
preparation for their concert.
Assessment
Teacher will formatively assess students through future classes, and the upcoming
concert in March.

Students will know what to do for future rehearsals and classes.

For my Special Education students, I will provide information in a simple way, and also not excluding them in the
classroom either.

Lesson Critique. To be completed following the lesson. Did your students meet the objective(s)? What
part of the lesson would you change? Why?

Students learned about the new information, and have begun putting it into practice. For my lesson, I
believe if I had more time, I would be able to accomplish more. One of the things I wish I did make, was a
visual graphic to go along with what I was talking about. I was able to stay on task, but it’s just a guiding
tool for myself and the students as well. With the discussion portions, it worked very well for the students;
they were engaged and paying attention.
