Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Since Nearpod is interactive, it is great for all types of learning. Each
student learns at their own pace on their own screen right in front of them. They are able to move forward
and back on the slides. For visual learners, I can add graphs, charts, diagrams, etc. For auditory learners, I
can either read the content slides out loud or voice record them to play with the slides. It is interactive
providing open ended questions, matching questions, polls, filling in the blank, etc making it great for
hands on learners.

Lesson idea implementation: In the last lesson we talked about the importance of exercising and the
benefits it has for the body. The other half to exercising is eating healthy, so for this lesson we will talk
about nutrition. After the teacher discussing the different food groups and what it means to have a healthy
plate, students will be introduced to this project. Each student will be assigned a food group and they will
have to create a Nearpod presentation to present to the class. They will be responsible for discussing the
different types of food in that group, how much we should eat a day, why it is good for us, and any other
facts they find. They will have to include a minimum of three interactive slides. Students will be given two
days to complete this project and each presentation should take about 5 mins.
Student learning will be assessed by seeing the results from the interactive questions and quizzes. After
each student’s presentation, I can also ask the class questions about their knowledge on the content of the
presentation that was just shown. I can provide feedback to the student presenting by having a rubric
following the guidelines of the project. I can also note things they did well on and things that they could
improve on and why. I will conclude this lesson after everyone presents by recapping all the food groups
and recapping why proper nutrition is good for us. I could extend student learning by having them create
their own healthy meal at the end of the lesson.

Reflective Practice: I think by having students do this project could impact student learning because it has
been proven that students learn better by doing themselves rather than listening to a teacher lecture. By
having students research and create their own presentation, the absorb more of the information in. To

extend this lesson, I could have students create their own healthy plate since they now know the
importance of proper nutrition and eating foods from all the food groups. I’m not sure of any other
technology tools that could further enhance this project.
