At the HEC Paris MBA, we pave the way for students to transform their careers. International mobility
continues to be at the core of our post-graduation placements, with 51 percent of the class now working
outside of their home country. Sixty-five percent of the class changed two of the three elements of career
transformation (function, sector and location) and an impressive 34 percent successfully made the “triple
jump,” changing all three aspects of their career.

It has been another successful year for the graduating class with 93 percent securing employment within
three months of graduation; an increase of 1 percentage point from the previous year. These results are a
testament to the quality and proactivity of the cohort and the support of our strong alumni network.

This is also demonstrated in the rate of block hiring, which is defined as companies that hire more than
two graduates from the class. Block hiring has increased by four percentage points to 44 percent, growing
steadily throughout the previous four years.

The top recruiters continue to include leading consulting firms, such as McKinsey and Bain, as well as top
technology firms, such as Microsoft, Amazon and Google.

INDUSTRY
Industry continues to be the strongest recruiting sector for the HEC Paris MBA with 47 percent of students
being hired in this sector. Technology continues to be the force within the sector, with 19 percent of the
class securing employment in the sector. The range of technology recruiters in the sector includes Amazon,
Microsoft and Google amongst the top recruiters, and also some exciting new disruptors including Deliveroo
(food delivery, UK), Finleap (Fintech, Germany), Happn (online dating, France) and Zoobashop (e-commerce,
Africa).

Life Sciences has also seen excellent growth, having increased by six percentage points to eight percent. Key
recruiters in the sector include Eli Lilly, Henkel, GlaxoSmithKline and Sanofi.

Consumer Goods remains stable at four percent, as has the Luxury sector. The Energy sector has started to
rise again, up two percentage points to four percent, with Schneider Electric being one of the top recruiters
for our students.

FINANCE
The Financial Services sector has shown a good increase this year up three percentage points to 21 percent.
Credit Suisse and Citi are amongst the top recruiters for the HEC Paris MBA, in addition to a range of top
companies in the sector including American Express, Amadeus, Barclays, BNP Paribas, International Finance
Corporation, GE Finance, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Lazard, HSBC, ING and Société Générale.

CONSULTING
The Consulting sector hired 18 percent of the graduating class this year, with top recruiters including McKinsey
& Company, Bain & Company, A.T. Kearney and Strategy&.

SERVICES
The Services sector has also exhibited strong growth up four percentage points from last year to 14 percent.

RECRUITING EVENTS
HEC Paris MBA Career Week: A week-long, on-campus event for companies recruiting specifically for
MBA full-time positions (September).
HEC International Finance and Consulting Forums: On-campus networking and job-placement events
for companies recruiting for the Financial Services and Consulting sectors (October and November).
HEC Carrefours Career Fair: Started in 1985, the Carrefours Career Fair is the flagship career fair for
students from all programs across HEC (January).
HEC MBA Internship Day: MBA-specific event for companies recruiting internship positions (January/
February).
Sector-focused Career Fairs: Events for companies recruiting or interested in networking with students
specifically for their sectors. In 2018-2019 the sectors will include Energy (February), Healthcare
(November), Digital/Fintech (November) and “Smart Cities” (March).
Stand-alone individual presentations: Company presentations can occur anytime from September to
November, and from January to April.
Career treks: Regional, national and international treks organized throughout the program to give
students an insider’s view of companies within a specific sector.
Club activities: HEC Paris MBA professional clubs aim to strengthen the relationship between the
HEC Paris MBA community and specific sectors. They organize roundtable discussions, evening guest
speakers, networking dinners with HEC Paris alumni, and so on.
